Earlier this week Sony unveiled the new Astro Bot PS5 Slim console bundle and it is now available for purchase at Best Buy and Amazon. The official launch of Switch 2, gaming’s most anticipated release of the year, is quickly approaching and some new details have come to light regarding a potential major upgrade to its voice chat system. 

Sony has now officially unveiled the new PlayStation 5 Astro Bot console bundle. While the Mushroom Kingdom took over the internet yesterday for Mario Day 2025, we wanted to touch down this morning to make sure folks interested in picking up a new PlayStation console didn’t miss this one. The PC gaming handheld space has seen rapid growth over the last couple of years since Steam Deck’s debut, and it looks like Microsoft is finally getting ready to enter the race with its own model. According to a new report, Microsoft is said to be working with an OEM partner to launch an Xbox-branded handheld later in 2025. We are quickly closing in on the scheduled official Nintendo Direct showcase for Switch 2 – it is now just over 3 weeks away folks – and some new details on the console have surfaced courtesy of an official Federal Communication Commission (FCC) filing. Previously patens all but confuted the existence of mouse mode for the new Switch 2 Joy-Con alongside a reversible display and a look at the drawings of a new charger, but FCC report that has now surfaced is giving us some official details on NFC support, dual USB-C charging, and more. 

The official Mario Day 2025 game deals are set to go live today folks! The eShop digital Switch game deals for MAR10 went live a few days back – details on those are right here – and the physical Nintendo game deals are set to go live today at Amazon, Target, Best Buy, Walmart, and elsewhere. Nintendo detailed a sneak peak at the first-party games scheduled to go live for this year’s Mario Day festivities back on March 4 when it officially announced this year’s promotions, but just about everything is actually set to go live today some 24 hours before the official March 10 annual Mushroom Kingdom festivities. 

Mario Day 2025 is getting off to an early start as per usual – the official eShop sale is now live from $1.50 and the Nintendo LEGO offers are now up for grabs, but Nintendo also just unleashed a couple new classics for Switch Online members. While we were expecting and might still get some other Mario titles, Nintendo has unleashed a couple of new classic Game Boy titles to its retro Switch Online library and you can go play them right now. While Head of Creative Neil Druckmann might have just said we might not ever see The Last of Us III – I’ll believe it when I don’t see it – PlayStation has now just revealed the first-look at the brand new DualSense wireless controller – The Last of Us Limited Edition. There has been some talk regarding a second screen functionality for Switch 2, you know, DS-style, but a newly surface patent filing is also pointing at potential magnetic smartphone integration for Nintendo’s new console. We have already seen details on some relatively new patents that all but confirm the magnetic Joy-Con and mouse mode, but it looks as though Nintendo could have some kind of magnetic attachment in the works that could enable a second screen functionality by way of your smartphone for Switch 2, and potentially and entire modular accessory holder system for other devices.

February feels like it’s taking forever and March might be even worse as Mario Day 2025 will likely just be a reminder of how much longer we will have to wait for Nintendo Switch 2 to actually launch. The question is whether or not those Trump tariffs are going to take a toll on Nintendo’s stateside bottom line come launch day or not. However, in a recent press conference Nintendo boss Shuntaro Furukawa did have something to say about the matter. 

We have seen some compelling industry insider speculation on what the price of the upcoming Switch 2 will be. A Canadian Costco employee purportedly leaked a placeholder price for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console recently. But you can apparently buy one right now for the price of about the price of new Tesla right now on the black market. 

Shortly before a Costco employee might have leaked the Switch 2 price, a recently surfaced official Nintendo patent filing all but confirmed mouse mode for the Joy-Con. Alongside giving us a glimpse at what might be the new two-piece Switch Pro Controller as well as a wireless charging dock, an official patent is also now pointing at the ability to completely reverse the Joy-Con – attach them to the console the other way around.

Xbox had its turn late last month, and now it’s time for the first PlayStation State of Play showcase of the year. Sony took to its official PlayStation Blog yesterday to announce it would be hosting its first live broadcast this afternoon, and we are now quickly approaching the start time. Switch 2 is official, Grand Theft Auto 6 and Metal Gear Solid Delta might be in the launch game window (along with a host of actual Nintendo titles of course), and recent patent fillings have all but confirmed Mouse-Con mode. It turns out that leaked Metal Gear Solid Delta release date and the initial plans to have it revealed during a State of Play this week might indeed be true.

Yesterday we got official words from Take-Two that Grand Theft Auto VI was still scheduled to release this fall, just after an official Nintendo patent seemingly confirmed the existence of mouse mode on Switch 2. But is there any connection between the two? Well not exactly, but the CEO of Rockstar’s parent company, Strauss Zelnick, did suggest that it plants to support Switch 2 as much as possible. 

The first official GTA 6 trailer finally landed way back in December of 2023 and, as we all eagerly await the next look at the wildly popular new entry in the series, Take-Two has confirmed it is still on track to release this year. 

An official patent filed by Nintendo is surfacing across the web today – it appears to all but confirm the mouse functionality on the Joy-Con and quite possibly offer up the very first look at the new official wireless charging pad as well as what looks a lot like the new Pro controller.
