Carl Zeiss has just recently announced the VR One virtual reality headset for use with iOS and Android smartphones. While it still feels like a bit of stretch to get people to put these things on their heads, the typically steep price point of early contenders does’t help. The VR One is a similar premise to what we are seeing from Samsung’s Gear VR headset, but at a seemingly much more affordable price tag.

AT&T Wireless is running a promotion that extends a 25% discount to your entire order when you purchase three wireless accessories at once. Android fans trying to get Samsung’s latest wearables can add two minimally priced accessories and a Galaxy Gear Fit, Gear 2, or Gear 2 Neo to get one of the first sizable discounts we’ve seen on these new gadgets. The discount will be automatically applied to your order once three accessories are added to your shopping cart.

For example, our order total for these two $5 screen protectors and a Gear Fit was $156.75. That’s $43 below the list price on the Gear Fit and you get a couple backup screen protectors for your phone. The Fit features a 1.8-inch AMOLED curved display, a water-resistant design, and three-four days of battery life on a single charge.

This same process will work on other wearables like the FitBit One, Pebble Smartwatch, and Jawbone UP24.

First introduced at CES in January, Samsung today quietly started taking preorders for a new billion-color, 3,840 x 2,160 28-inch 4K monitor. The UD590 includes two HDMI 1.4 and one DisplayPort, audio out, and introduces a slick brushed metal look with thin bezels and a ’T-shaped’ stand that minimizes the machine’s overall footprint. Perhaps the most intriguing part about Samsung’s new display is the price: $699 makes the UD590 an extremely competitive option to monitors from Dell, Sharp, Asus and others with similar specs but much higher price tags. Also included is a new “Picture-by-Picture” mode that lets you “connect two PCs to the same monitor and see the desktops of both simultaneously on one screen that’s divided into two.”

The monitor will be released and ship on April 18, but you can preorder it from Amazon now for $699 with free shipping using the link below:

BestBuy and Sprint are offering a truly rare deal for students leading into the holidays this year. Starting today, students in the US that purchase a smartphone from BestBuy will be able to get 12 months of free talk, text, and data for 12 months. You’ll have to pick up an eligible Student Activated Price device in-store with an Unlimited, My Way plan, but that won’t require a contract and there are plenty of great phones to choose from.

You’ll pay a little more for BestBuy’s student pricing. For example, $699 for a 16GB iPhone 5s or $599 for a Moto X, but the free year of service (normally $70/month) will still save you a ton of money by the end of the first year. There will also be a $36 activation fee per line.

In addition, Best Buy is offering an additional 12 months of free service by adding another phone line to the same account on a two-year contract.

After your free year of service is up you’ll have to cancel your service or hand over the $70/month that the My Way unlimited plan with 1GB of data normally goes for. The deal will be available in BestBuy stores until January 4. A full list of eligible devices with pricing below:
