Companies are always trying to think of new, alternative ways for us to take calls from our smartphones. While for most, simply extending your arm with your smartphone in hand is plenty convenient enough, there are times when a hands-free situation can be, well, handy. Those ridiculous looking Bluetooth earpieces come to mind, as well the built-in microphones on just about every speaker on the market these days.
But for some, that’s just not good enough. We have already seen developers looking to alternate technologies to beam calls to our ears which includes Atari’s upcoming hat phones. And it looks as though the folks at Origami Labs have taken to Kickstarter to give bone induction another shot, essentially allowing us to take calls directly from our finger tips. Update 11/22: Atari is now discounting its Speakerhats to $99.99 shipped. That’s good for a savings of up to $40 and the first price drop we’ve seen on Atari’s head-mounted speakers.
For many years we have been clamoring for some kind of new gaming-related venture from the fabled Atari brand. Cemented in to the interactive entertainment space since the 1970’s, the company has never really made much effort as far as fans are concerned towards new gaming products, until recently that is. The brand, which has felt largely underutilized over the years considering its pop-culture status, has been teasing a new console as of late.
While a teaser video hit last month followed by new images of the PC-based Ataribox console, there are still a number of important details up in the air. Mainly, the games and how content will be offered to consumers. Nonetheless, it is a product gamers have been asking for, unlike Atari’s new Speakerhat. A product no one has ever asked for, and especially not from Atari… Expand Expanding Close

In fact, many of its machines not only come packed with titles built-in, but some of them can even play those old cartridges in the attic once you dust them off. Despite not being nearly as sought after as the official NES and upcoming SNES Classic Editions from Nintendo itself, the ATGames machines offer significantly more value in terms of actual software and features in many ways.
