Samsung has officially announced its newest high-end Solid State Drive lineup. The 850 PRO Series features Samsung’s proprietary V-NAND technology, which Samsung believes is “the biggest technology shift in 30 years of the memory industry.”
Samsung supports this claim by explaining that V-NAND allows it to overcome “the density limit currently facing planar NAND architecture used in conventional flash memory, yielding significant speed, endurance and energy efficiency improvements.”

It features “read performance reaches up to 550 megabytes per second (MB/s), with write performance of up to 520MB/s. Random read performance is up to 100,000 input/output operations-per-second (IOPS), with write speeds of up to 90,000 IOPS.”
The new 850 PRO is scheduled to ship later this month and is available in the following capacities: 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. While the stated MSRPS range from $169.99 to $799.99, Newegg is currently offering up to 24% off with prices starting at just $129.99 shipped.
