Initially unveiled back in January, IK Multimedia’s latest mutli-platform audio interface is now ready to ship. Much like its predecessor, iRig 2 provides a quick and reliable recording/monitoring solution for guitar players but with a few new features packed in. On top of around 5 years of additional development, the new iRig will support iOS/Mac devices as well as all Android 5.0 tablets and smartphones.

Sony has announced via the official PlayStation Blog that it will be kicking off another free multiplayer weekend for all PS4 owners starting this Friday. Traditionally a $50 per year membership to PlayStation Plus is required to play online, but starting March 20th at midnight (12:01am PT) until March 22nd at midnight (11:59pm PT), all PS4 owners will be able to access multiplayer for free.

Sony is running this promotion just in time for the recent launch of GTA Online Heists and the release of new multiplayer modes coming to EA’s “cops & criminals” Battlefield spin-off, Hardline.

Panasonic’s new Bluetooth and LED equipped smart air conditioner does more than just keep you cool

These days it seems that just about every new toy we come across features some sort of hybrid design, attempting to bring in the best technologies from various product categories into one. We recently spotted Sony’s talking personal assistant on wheels and ADATA’s new multi-function microReader, and now Panasonic is readying its new Bluetooth speaker/home air conditioner combo for this summer.

Along with wireless audio streaming from your smartphone and a few unique cooling options, the upcoming Panasonic CS-NX405C series air conditioners also provide some interesting home lighting options as well…

While information is still somewhat limited, the units will feature typical Bluetooth audio streaming via your smartphone through built-in speakers as well as a lighting system that illuminates the ceiling. Based on Google translated information, the indoor LED lighting has two options (warm color and warm white). A similar option is also found with the air dispersal, allowing users to point the unit towards the ceiling for quieter operation and less direct contact with the air flow.

It appears the new units will be used in conjunction with the Good Night Navi app, which allows for several smart features like scheduling, auto music shut-off at bedtime, and temperature control based on your location in the home/office.

Compared to something like the smart Quirky Aros air conditioner, it seems the CS-NX405C options are somewhat limited when it comes to smart functionality and being connected with other intelligent home devices. The Quirky ecosystem seems to be a much more elegant looking option as well. However, information is still coming out on the NX units and the Aros certainly won’t be playing the songs off your smartphone or tablet any time soon.

The new Panasonic CS-NX405C series air conditioners are set for a April 21st launch in Japan (no North American date has been set). Official pricing is yet to be determined, but don’t expect these units to come cheap.

While the latest iteration of Metal Gear Online (MGO) is also scheduled to hit on the same day, PC players will have to wait another few weeks until September 15th to take control of Venom Snake.

Here’s a look at Pioneer’s new all-gold limited edition DJ controller

Pioneer is well known for its DJ gear, especially its flagship DDJ-SZ Serato controllers, and now its limited edition model is scheduled to go up for sale in the coming days. Sporting the all gold exterior seen in the image above, the DDJ-SZ-N boasts all of the same features as its standard edition counterpart but with very limited availability…

Outside of the shiny new exterior, the DDJ-SZ-N remains unchanged from the standard edition with full-sized jog wheels, multi-function performance/cue pads, dual mic inputs, dual USB soundcards, sampling/effects across all four channels and Pioneer’s exclusive Magvel crossfader.

Much like the gold treatment its DDJ-SX model received previously, there will only be 1,000 golden SZ-N models available worldwide, each with a custom laser engraved serial number.

But with a suggested retail price north of $2,000 and very limited availability, these are certainly only going to be of interest to serious collectors. Some of the much more affordable options from Pioneer like the DDJ-SB line, along with highly rated options from Numark and others (like this $100 iPad/Mac option for just $67 at Amazon) will likely get the job done for most.

The new golden DDJ-SZ-N has a suggested retail price of around $2,500 and is set to go up for sale from various retailers in March.
