Amazon has launched a new custom 3D Printing Store. While the online retail giant has sold a number of affordable 3D printers for some time now, the new storefront offers a selection of customizable 3D printed items to choose from including phone cases, wallets, home decor items, toys, jewelry, bobble-heads and more.

The amount of customization available varies depending on the item. You’ll see everything from basic color selections to deeper choices like size and texture options as well as custom text and item specific tweaks.

While there are some stock goods that don’t have any customization available, on items like the $30 Bobble-head dolls from Mixee Labs, Amazon has provided a mini editor with everything from hair, eye and face selections as well as outfits with custom text and more. With something like the $60 custom 3D printed cuff links, buyers can choose any 3 letter monogram, the color and material as well as the shape.

We have seen more home 3D printers approaching affordable prices like the upcoming New Matter MOD-t (which is currently up for preorder at $249), but the new 3D Printer Store offers a nice option for those who haven’t dived into the 3D printer space yet. Most of the highly rated and best selling home 3D printers will still run you anywhere from $499 to over $1000.

Gameloft launched another trailer for its upcoming Modern Combat title. The mobile shooter franchise will be returning to iOS, Android and Windows 8 on July 24th with Modern Combat 5: Blackout. The game will once again feature an action heavy single player campaign as well as a full multiplayer suite and Spec Op missions that are separate from the main story.

In the trailer (above), we a see a little more of the same Venice setting we caught in the E3 trailer along with more gameplay footage and some light story elements. Gameloft recently confirmed the Tokyo level along with a character progression system and 4 soldier classes.

While Gameloft has been criticized for its more than obvious nods to popular console franchises, many of its arguably knock-off mobile titles have very strong ratings among users, so chances are MC:5 Blackout will as well. Gameloft’s last MC title, Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour is currently sitting with 4 stars from 11767 Ratings on the App Store. 

Reviewers who have had a chance to go hands on with previews of the game (both single player and multiplayer) pointed out that the game plays very similar to MC4 and seem to have come away generally impressed. Gaming accessory maker Nyko has just launched its new PlayStation 4 Power Pak. The small, light weight add-on attaches to the back of a DualShock 4 to double the controller’s regular battery life.

It connects via the Micro USB connection along the top of the controller and uses two small pegs that lock into the screw holes on the back to hold it firmly in place. It features a pass-through USB port which allows for simultaneous charging of both the Power Pak and the controller with a single cable.

While it does appear that the Power Pak could both get in the way of comfortably holding the controller and could add some additional weight, Nyko seems to be pretty sure that’s not the case. The company’s director of marketing, Chris Arbogast, said “It’s lightweight and does not impede gameplay or ergonomics, enabling users to extend their gaming sessions.”

Synology has announced a new model in its line of popular Network Attached Storage devices with the DS415play. An updated, 4 bay-version of the DS214play that was revealed last fall, the latest model is also designed with your home entertainment and media experience in mind. After a bit of a wait, IGN has now announced OTTTD as July’s Free Game of the Month. Available on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, free promotional codes are available now. Regularly priced at $4.99, the game has dropped to $2.99 on the App Store previously, but this marks this first time we have seen the iOS version go free.

OTTTD (or Over The Top Tower Defense) is not your average tower defense game. It blends elements of real time strategy games, tower defense and giant, flying, undead sharks. While described as “anything-goes TD game that doesn’t take itself seriously,” there is an intense and tactical blend of RD and RTS gameplay at its core.

With additional game modes on the way, there are already 20 story missions, a unique and meaningful tempa-death system and boss battles, as well as a character class and leveling system. You can check out some screenshots and the gameplay trailer below.

Microsoft is handing out $75 in credit to select Xbox gamers as incentive to upgrade to Xbox One. Originating from a NeoGaf post, reports began surfacing yesterday of certain individuals receiving a message via Xbox Live on their 360’s informing them of the promotional upgrade offer.

Today, Ultimate Ears has announced that its well regarded UE Boom Bluetooth speaker has won a 2014 Gold International Design Excellence Award (IDEA) from the Industrial Designers Society of America (ISDA). Sitting atop the entertainment category, this marks the very first IDEA for Ultimate Ears as a brand but the fourth design award for the UE BOOM itself. The award is given out to excellence in product design, sustainability, packaging, concept and more. Today’s announcement points out that only 27 of the 2,000 entries received a Gold IDEA this year.

Harman and JBL have announced two new lines of headphones today including the JBL Synchros E-Series and the JBL Synchros Reflect sport in-ears.

Where as the Reflect series is designed more for active use or with workouts, the E-Series headphones are more tailored towards day-to-day listening. They are shipping in 4 different models: E50BT around-ear headphones with Bluetooth (MSRP $149.95),  E40BT on-ear headphones with Bluetooth (MSRP $99.95), E30 on-ear headphones (MSRP $79.95), and the E10 in-ear headphones (MSRP $39.95).

The Reflect series will come in two versions, one with Bluetooth and one without. The Synchros Reflect have a $59.99 MSRP and the Bluetooth version will run you $99.95 direct from JBL/Harman. Developer Vector Unit has announced a new mobile title called Beach Buggy Racing coming to iOS, Android and Kindle in August. The game is a follow up to Vector’s popular 2012 Beach Buggy Blitz kart racer and looks as though it will continue the company’s line of well received mobile racing titles.

You can expect much of the same over the top kart-racing action as Beach Buggy Blitz as well as customizable vehicles, new characters each with specific abilities and 12 new tracks set in exotic off-road locations like “dinosaur-infested jungles, lava-spewing volcanoes, beautiful beaches, and mysterious swamps.”

Vector also mentions on its announcement page that the game will include up to 4 player multiplayer races with split-screen action on “one tablet or TV-connected device.“

There is no pricing information on the new upcoming title yet. The original Beach Buggy Blitz is a FREE download on iOS and Android and Vector’s popular hydro jet water racer Riptide GP2 will run you $2 on the App Store and Google Play.
