Nest made a splash yesterday with the announcement of its third generation Learning Thermostat. But despite its larger screen and new Farsight feature, the second generation model is the better buy for most people at its new, lower price of $199 (Orig. $249).

Nest did a great job of talking up how its third generation screen is a big deal, but in practice it probably won’t improve your life that much. Farsight sounds like it would be helpful, but how often do you really want to check in on your thermostat from 3-ft or more away or don’t have access to clock? Most thermostats live in hallways anyways, where you’re never more than a few feet away from its display. The other big improvement is Furnace Heads-Up that analyzes your furnace’s shutoff patterns, but that feature will also be rolling out to all previous generation Nest Thermostats later this year.

At the end of the day, it feels like Nest didn’t do enough to make the third generation Thermostat worth the extra $50 over its predecessor. That being said, you won’t always have this option since the second generation’s discounted price of $199 is only going to be around “while supplies last.”

Square Enix has now dropped the details on the Rise of the Tomb Raider Collector’s Edition for Xbox One. Set for release on November 10th, Rise of the Tomb Raider will take players though the remote regions of Siberia and beyond to uncover an ancient mystery surrounding immortality. It looks like we’ll be doing a lot more actual tomb raiding this time around, and now we have the full details of what to expect from the Collector’s Edition:

Along with the usual SteelBook cover and main game, you can expect a 12-inch tall statue of Lara in her climbing gear, a replica of Lara’s in-game journal, her jade necklace and what appears to be a pretty sweet-looking wood crate box to carry it all.

The $150 special edition is exclusive to the online Square store and the official Tomb Raider shop at this point. GameStop, Amazon and other retailers have some nice pre-order bonuses along with the main game, but we have yet to see a special edition of sorts pop-up anywhere else.

Today Amazon has started selling the most funded Kickstarter game in history: Exploding Kittens for $20 Prime shipped. Nintendo announces official price drop coming for its 2DS handheld console

Nintendo has announced an official price drop coming to its already affordable 2DS handheld system. It currently holds a suggested retail price of $129.99, but come August 30th, the portable system will drop to $99.99 shipped. The 2DS, which plays almost the entire 3DS (and DS) library of games, will still ship with Mario Kart 7 when the new price drop hits at the end of the month.

We have seen the 2DS dip down to $100 and even lower a few times in the last year or so, plus a few sweet refurbished deals for even less. In fact, GameStop has it for under $100 in-store right now at some locations. However, with the official price drop we are likely to see prices come down even further from major retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, Target, GameStop and more, so it might be a smart idea to hold-off on purchasing until that happens.

Crowdfunding campaigns and startups are pushing out some of the coolest gadgets in the market, but getting your hands on them is sometimes tough since these companies don’t have distribution and logistics locked down. Amazon Launchpad is designed to make it easier for these amazing products to get into the hands of consumers faster. Jim Adkins, Amazon’s Vice President, explains:
