This summer has been quite busy for LEGO fans, as we’ve had some large quantities of new sets hitting the market over the last few months on top of plenty of new reveals, like the Disney 43279 WALL-E and EVE set that had everyone in their feelings over one of Pixar’s cutest couples. Today, the LEGO Group is revealing the upcoming Ideas 21360 Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory set, which is one that’s been a year in the making since being chosen by the LEGO Review Board last August. Nintendo has now officially announced the next expansion for the Switch 2 GameCube library. The latest classic game library for Nintendo Switch Online members and Switch 2 owners launched alongside the next-gen console with three titles before Nintendo brought the classic Super Mario Strikers in late June, and now it is readying a fifth title.

After being confirmed as an official sequel way back in 2019, with development starting before that to some degree, it’s been a very long wait for Hollow Knight: Silksong. After years of no-shows at gaming events and showcases, and becoming one of most wishlisted titles on Steam ever, it looks as though Team Cherry is finally ready to break the silence in a major way and finally give us the good news.

The big summer game showcases came and went, and still no release date or even a proper look at the long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong. But gamescom 2025 is here, and so is Silksong. We still didn’t get a proper look or a release date for the bigger-than-indie 2D side-scrolling adventure at the Opening Night Live event yesterday, but industry darling and Game Awards boss Geoff Keighley did specifically say that it is “100%” for sure releasing this year, and we are almost certainly going to get the actual launch date tomorrow morning.

After Sony decided to increase the price on PS5 hardware outside of the U.S. it seemed it was only a matter of time before the price hikes would land stateside, and that day has come. Sony has now taken to its official PlayStation Blog, right smack in the middle of the Xbox gamescom broadcast, to announce imminent price increases across the PS5 lineup – it begins tomorrow.

Update: Best Buy has listed the new Xbox ROG Ally and ROG Ally X handhelds, briefly confirming the $549.99 and $899.99 prices in the backend. They’re not available to pre-order yet, though. Additionally, Best Buy has also listed $69.99 2-in-1 hard case and a $99.99 ROG 100W Charger Dock for ROG Xbox Ally.
Microsoft has confirmed the launch date for its new Xbox handhelds. Sony has just unleashed a handful of new gaming peripherals as part of its Inzone lineup, including its first gaming keyboard and mouse. Market analysts warned us ahead of launch that it would happen, Nintendo just officially increased the price on Switch hardware and Switch 2 accessories (again) in the U.S., and it seems it’s only a matter of time before Switch 2 console prices go up too. Not long after gracing the word with its next-generation Switch 2 hardware, some new Nintendo toys are inbound. Nintendo is officially releasing a new platform of sorts known as “My Mario.” Consisting of a range of new toys and products, including a FREE interactive app for iOS, Android, and Switch, the particularly sweet-looking 3D Mario wood block sets, and a “Hello Mario!” Board Book, it is all set to begin releasing in Japan this month with an early 2026 launch slated elsewhere.

And now, just a day after Xbox confirmed the devices will be showcased at Gamescom, a new report appears to reveal the pre-order dates. This is in line with when we were expecting the handhelds to go on sale, so they would land on everyone’s doorstep just in time for the holidays. Nintendo has officially released its latest quarterly earnings report, further highlighting the massive uptick in sales garnered by Switch 2 – the fastest-selling console in U.S. history. YoY earnings for the Mario maker are (mostly) up across the board because of the nearly 6 million Switch units sold in the first quarter and nearly as many copies of its new open-world Mario Kart experience. But none of this comes as much to surprise to just about anyone at this point, and subsequently isn’t all that interesting to anyone but stock holders – Nintendo did however once again confirm the 2025 release date windows for some major upcoming titles.

Nintendo’s new GameCube library for Switch Online members was one of the more pleasing and maybe even surprising elements to the Switch 2 launch. This morning’s long-awaited Nintendo Direct has aired, and it certainly was not what just about anyone was expecting. Not only was it a Partner Showcase, we also did not see almost any of the major third-party games that were rumored to be coming to Switch 2 – there were a couple, just not any of the big hitters. One shining light in the otherwise mostly mediocre showing was the new Square Enix RPGs that capped off the show – Octapath Traveler 0 and the all-new IP, The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales.
