Update (2/29 10:53am): Nintendo has now officially confirmed the new Select titles. Here in the US they will go for $19.99 each at various retailers come March 11th.
As you likely already know, Nintendo’s first party titles tend to hold their value and rarely go on sale (sometimes they end up above the original price tag!). This is where Nintendo Selects comes in. It is essentially a program that reprints older Nintendo titles and makes them available at a usually much lower price point. For example, Super Mario 3D World for Wii U still goes for between $48 and $60 (or more!), but will be about half that when it re-releases.
Up until now, Europe has received the most notable Select re-releases, but if leaked data (see below) from a Canadian games retailer is to be believed, North American gamers are about to get their hands on a new lot. It looks like there will be new Wii, Wii U and 3DS Select releases come March 11th for $29.99 $19.99 each (pricing now official). Here are the titles we have heard about thus far:
- Animal Crossing: City Folk
- Donkey Kong Country Returns
- Super Mario All-Stars
- Super Mario Galaxy 2
- Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D
- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D
- Mario Party: Island Tour
- Yoshi’s New Island
- Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
- NES Remix Pack
- Pikmin 3
- Super Mario 3D World
