PlayStation 5 pre-orders are set to go live today…round 2 edition. We know plenty of folks had a chance to score a PS5 Pro pre-sale unit as part of the initial pre-order phase coming straight from PlayStation Direct, but today is the day the new PS5 Pro and the PS1-style 30th Anniversary PS5 Slim are set to go live at retailers like Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, and Target. Stock will, as I’m sure you can imagine, almost certainly sell out even faster than it did during the PlayStation Direct event last month, so you’ll want to be prepared well before the scheduled 10 a.m. start time to ensure you land one.
PlayStation 5 Pro pre-orders and 30th Anniversary PS5 go live again today
Whether you have some store credit to make use of or you’re just looking to order online and then pick up in-store to get your new console before it even gets a chance to ship, folks that pre-order today might very well get the new PS5 Pro home before folks who pre-ordered one last week.
The standard edition PlayStation 5 Pro carries a lofty $699.99 price tag, but that pales in comparison to the $999.99 the frankly epic 30th Anniversary PS5 Pro carries. All things considered the former is for folks who want that rock solid frame rate and even higher-resolution experience, and the latter is for hardcore collectors – I wouldn’t be surprised if the 30th anniversary Pro edition actually went up in value at some point, be it at resale or well into the future.

Whereas last time around it wasn’t 100% confirmed exactly what time the machines would go live at PlayStation Direct, both Amazon and Walmart are specifically stating the PlayStation 5 Pro pre-orders will begin on October 10 (today) at 7 a.m. PT/10 a.m. ET.
Sony had a virtual queue prospective customers could jump into well before the actual 10 a.m. ET kick off time, but it’s hard to say if this will be the case for the retailers here today. It wouldn’t be unheard of for Best Buy and Walmart, but it is sounding like you’ll just want to make sure you’re logged into your account with your location and payment all ready to go before trying to add the console to your cart (more details on this are waiting down below in this post).
30th Anniversary PS5 Slim Digital Edition
As of right now, it is not entirely clear whether or not Amazon will be offering pre-orders on the 30th Anniversary PS5 Sim Digital Edition at $499.99, but it doesn’t appear as though Walmart , Best Buy, and Target are going to be offering folks a chance to grab one today. Pre-orders are set to go live at the time as the standard pro edition above, 7 a.m. PT/10 a.m. ET. One thing to keep in mind here, is that Walmart appears to only be offering this console to its Walmart+ members (free trial here)
