Amazon has had a busy summer so far. After news leaked that the online giant would begin selling Nike gear, it’s reportedly also getting into the at-home meal kit space with a Blue Apron competitor. In a few short hours, the reaction has been fairly positive. Sears jumped over 20% in pre-market trading and is up 18% at the time of this writing.

So what does this mean for consumers? The world of retail is rapidly evolving as Amazon is pushing to enter every product category out there. But don’t expect Jeff Bezos’ ambition to stop there…

Alexa-enabled Sandman Doppler Alarm Clock hits Kickstarter with early success

It’s not an iPod Shuffle, Mighty’s Spotify player just looks like one

Gone are the days of buying albums or individual songs for your iPod. I can’t remember the last time that I gave up $0.99 for a new release on the iTunes music store. Let alone comb through my library to hand select which songs made the cut for my iPod that week. The reality is that paying $10 per month for unlimited access to entire catalogs of songs has quickly changed this industry in nearly every way.

But I guess people still want an iPod Shuffle experience. Or at least over 9,000 backers of the Mighty Spotify Player do. That’s how many early adopters shelled out $70 well over a year ago to get their hands on this mini streaming media player. After raising nearly $600,000 on Kickstarter and Indiegogo, the Mighty is finally available to all this week.

AirDog Drone returns to Kickstarter after raising over $1 million the first time around

When DJI first announced its Spark drone a few months back, features like autonomous tracking and the ability to avoid obstacles stood out as notable features in a $499 package. The drone market continues to grow more crowded as quadcopters get smaller in size and gain more robust specs. And with that, comes refreshed models of the industry’s first consumer offerings.

AirDog first launched back at CES 2015 and went on to raise over $1.3 million on Kickstarter. The original model was amongst the first drones built for amateur pilots that included subject tracking. Now, AirDog returns to the crowdfunding site with the second generation packed with features geared towards extreme athletes.
