Hampton has been in the security hardware business for nearly half a century now, first debuting its weather-resistant padlock back in 1973. While the company’s focus has been placed entirely on typical deadbolts and other door fixtures, Hampton is now turning to Wi-Fi control for its latest unveil. The new Array Smart Lock is backed by a full keypad, Alexa support and an integrated solar panel to recharge the battery.

This morning, Hampton has announced its first ever smart lock. At first glance, Array appears to be your standard smart lock. It includes smartphone control thanks to a companion app, Alexa support and more. However aside from just sporting Hampton’s typical form-factor, the lock has some unique inclusions that help it stand out.

Array is also a great fit for non-technical home owners who may not be entirely sold on internet connected gadgets like a smart lock. It works without a hub, meaning you won’t have to pair it with an additional piece of hardware in order to access certain features like you would with many other smart locks on the market. Similarly to just about all of Hampton’s other deadbolts, Array also features a keypad for a simple keyless-entry system.

In terms of smart features, you’ll of course be able to lock/unlock Array from your phone or with your voice thanks to Alexa. Otherwise the most notable inclusion here is the ability to create e-keys and e-code, which pretty much allow you to grant access to your home to friends and family remotely. Although, you’ll find many other smart locks with similar features.

But the most interesting and unique feature about Hampton’s new release is that it comes backed by a built-in solar panel. Unfortunately it isn’t meant to be the only way you recharge Array, but it should make sure that you never come home to a completely drained lock. This addition significantly prolongs the battery life of the lock as long as your front door isn’t entirely covered in shade. Hampton also bundles an additional rechargeable 5,200mAh battery with Array to make it easy to swap out.

Array comes available in two different distinct styles, Copper and Barrington. Both also come in your choice of polished chrome, satin nickel, and Tuscan bronze finishes, giving you six different options to fit with your door’s aesthetic.

Hampton’s foray into smart home tech doesn’t end there though, as the company has also announced it would be introducing other devices like smart light fixtures and more. Array is currently available for purchase from Amazon for $289.99 shipped and will be rolling out to Ace Hardware stores and direct from Hampton for $299 as well.

FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Hampton Products International announced that its ARRAY By Hampton™ Connected Door Lock is now available for consumers to purchase at many neighborhood ACE Hardware stores nationwide and on the ArrayLock.com website. Ace Hardware is the largest U.S. hardware cooperative, with over 4,000 stores in the USA alone.

The ARRAY By Hampton Connected Door Lock starts with security. Hampton has over 27 years of experience manufacturing security hardware, and since 1990 has sold over 1.5 billion door locks and security hardware products. ARRAY By Hampton is thoughtfully designed by consumers for consumers, the result of 4 years of consumer research, product development and innovations in mobile app, battery and solar power performance.

“We’re putting our corporate name, Hampton, on this product because the ARRAY By Hampton ecosystem represents a new standard in connected home security locks, cameras, lighting and other devices – high-quality security devices all controlled through a single mobile app,” said Kim Kelley, president, Hampton Products. “We know that security starts at the front door with a quality lock, and our Connected Door Lock is the flagship product in our new line.”

The ARRAY By Hampton Connected Door Lock has a range of features consumers told us they want from a smart lock: no secondary hub or batteries to purchase; a single, easy-to-use app to quickly create e-keys and e-codes; monitoring of door usage; attractive designs with a hidden, integrated metal keypad to enter user codes without a smart device or key; U.S.-based cloud data storage and support; and a choice of stylish, upscale finishes for their entry doors. The door lock comes with two custom rechargeable and replaceable lithium polymer batteries, and its integrated solar panel can supplement battery recharging.

The door lock was designed to work right out of the box for homeowners who have Wi-Fi and use an Android or Apple smart device. After downloading the ARRAY By Hampton app and viewing the 4-minute instructional video, most homeowners replacing an existing deadbolt may find installation will require only a screwdriver. Data transmissions between the deadbolt, smart device app and cloud are encrypted, and two-step authentication provides confidentiality to ensure the owners maintain full control of their security.

The full-featured ARRAY By Hampton Android and iOS apps for phones, tablets and smartwatches serve as a central “command center” that lets users lock and unlock the deadbolt remotely, activate geofencing, check lock status and usage, schedule access via e-Keys and e-Codes, monitor battery status, control multiple ARRAY By Hampton locks, and access upcoming products. The deadbolt can also be opened via a hidden backlit keypad as well as using traditional keys. By pairing the Connected Door Lock’s geofencing capabilities with Brink’s Push Pull Rotate handles and handlesets (also designed and manufactured by Hampton), users can create a hands-free way to enter their home with a tap of an elbow or their hip.

ARRAY By Hampton also can lock doors remotely and communicate status via Amazon® Alexa™-enabled devices, with additional skills to be added.

The ARRAY By Hampton Connected Door Lock is available in two styles: the modern, crisp and uncomplicated Cooper, and the traditional, smooth and sophisticated Barrington. Each style is available in popular polished chrome, satin nickel and Tuscan Bronze™ finishes to match light and dark decors and complements Brink’s door lock and handleset hardware manufactured by Hampton.

The ARRAY By Hampton Connected Door Lock is the first of a planned line of interoperable home security hardware products that can be controlled with a single Android or iOS app. Smart light fixtures with built-in cameras and deadbolts that sense whether the door is locked will be available in neighborhood ACE Hardware retail stores, on www.acehardware.com and www.ArrayLock.com soon.

The ARRAY By Hampton Connected Door Lock is featured on ACE Hardware’s mobile tour that began rolling on August 27 and is visiting local community ACE Hardware locations across the United States through spring 2019.
