Breath of the Wild is primed to set a new standard for Zelda titles with its massive open world, but Link’s latest adventure will also be treading new ground for the series in other ways as well. For the first time, Nintendo will be launching expansion packs and a season pass for a main Zelda title.
There will be two packs of additional content for the game launching throughout 2017 and you’ll need to buy the “Expansion Pass” to get them. The first bundle will include a “Cave of Trials challenge” similar to what we saw in Twilight Princess, a new hard mode and a “new feature for the in-game map.” The second bundle will be the more substantial of the two with a “new dungeon and a new original story.” This sucker will launch holiday 2017 after most of us have already gotten through the main story.

You can’t purchase these bundles separately at this point, you have to purchase the Expansion Pass, which will be available for both the Nintendo Switch and Wii U versions of the game for $19.99. Anyone who purchases or pre-purchases the Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild Expansion Pass will get “three new treasure chests” that will appear in the Great Plateau area of the in-game map. One contains a silly Nintendo Switch shirt Link can wear throughout his adventure and the other two “deliver useful items”.
As exciting as it is to think there will be more content added to Breath of the Wild later this year, it does seem a bit weird Nintendo is charging for a hard mode and a Cave of Trials. Nonetheless, I for one will be very excited to get a completely new story come holiday 2017.
Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild releases March 3rd alongside Nintendo Switch. Amazon Prime members can pre-order Breath of the Wild right now for $47.99 shipped, but we are yet to see listings for the new Expansion Pass at Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop or Walmart. More details below.
Starting when The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild launches on March 3, players will be able to purchase an Expansion Pass for $19.99, granting access to two new sets of downloadable content for the game when they become available later this year.
Immediately upon pre-purchase or purchase of the Expansion Pass, three new treasure chests will appear in the game’s Great Plateau area. One of these treasure chests will contain a shirt with a Nintendo Switch logo that Link can wear during his adventure, exclusive to the Expansion Pass. The other two will deliver useful items.
- The first content pack is scheduled to launch this summer and will include the addition of a Cave of Trials challenge, a new hard mode, and a new feature for the in-game map.
- The second content pack will launch in Holiday 2017, and adds new challenges that will let players enjoy a new dungeon and a new original story.
The Expansion Pass will be available for both the Nintendo Switch and Wii U versions of the game and are identical. Content packs cannot be purchased individually.

While we are already packing in an extra controller in the bundle (along with some extensions), only one very lucky winner is going to get their hands on it. Anyone who already has one of Nintendo’s reissued mini consoles will certainly appreciate today’s wireless deal:
Amazon is offering the wireless Nyko MiniBoss for NES Classic Edition controller for $14.99 with free shipping for Prime members or in orders over $49. That’s $5 or 25% below the regular price, the lowest Amazon has offered it for and the best we can find. Rated 3.2/5 stars from over 100 customers. Keep in mind, many of the less than stellar reviews are complaints about the wireless range (listed at about 15-feet), which may or may not be an issue for you. You can get more details about it right here and down below.

A dedicated group of fans/developers have worked over the past eight years to create Mega Man 2.5D, and its finally here. Not only has the rag-tag team introduced some awesome 2.5D visuals across the entire single player campaign, but it also features co-op for two-player action.
While many Mega Man fans have purchased all of the classics at some point or other, 2.5D is mixing things up a bit. To keep things fresh for the single player campaign, the developers have handpicked a series of stages and bosses spanning the entire history of the series. We have some gameplay videos below along with the brand new release trailer and the hideous box art to match the original:

Nintendo had a great 2016 with the mini NES Classic and it is continuing to ride the wave into 2017 with Switch and Zelda Breath of the Wild. Despite it still being somewhere between very difficult and absolutely impossible to get your hands on a NES Classic or even a Switch pre-order at this point, excitement for Nintendo is at an all-time high. We have seen loads of accessories hit the market for Nintendo Switch, new games and even a batch of Breath of the Wild amiibo, but there is no sign of that illusive NES Classic Edition anywhere. At this point, it feels like we are more likely to see Nintendo unveil the SNES Classic. As exciting as that would be, there are still many gamers out there eagerly awaiting the opportunity to brandish the coveted NES re-issue.
Well, you’re not going to believe this…but we got one and we are giving it to you!
Not only do we have the NES Classic mini, we have the NES Classic Zelda Edition Bundle. Oceanhorn is one of the best Zelda-style adventure RPGs on the App Store (also available on Mac) and its sequel looks to be taking it up a notch. Developer Cornfox & Bros. announced Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm back in the summer and we are just now getting our first good look at it with a new set of screenshots.
The original was already a very pretty top-down isometric style adventure game, but Oceanhorn 2 is taking the perspective into full 3D with absolutely gorgeous looking Unreal Engine 4 graphics. Unreal not only gives us a massive bump in fidelity but it will also allow the team to port the game to multiple platforms. We know it is coming for iOS and we can likely expect it to hit the Mac App Store, but there is no official word on any other platforms or a release date.
The sequel will take us through another colorful, Zelda-inspired world set in a new timeline. You can expect even more of what was great about the first game: “a deep backstory with secrets and twists, amazing music, and most importantly – classic Action RPG gameplay with items, puzzles, battles, and badass bosses!”
