Anyone who knows me, knows that I’m a bit of a chronic worrier, so naturally I jumped at the chance to try out Tile’s Bluetooth item tracker. Billed as an easy way to keep track of the things that mean most to you, Tile is like having Apple’s Find My iPhone feature for your entire life. The original Tile tracker launched in 2013 on the back of one of the most successful crowdfunding campaigns ever, having raised more than $2.6M.

Just last month Tile launched its second generation Tracker that’s pretty similar to the original, but is just different enough that it’s worth exploring. Stay tuned to find out if these new refinements make a real difference in helping you get your lost keys back…

Amazon offers the Bose SoundLink Mini for $159 with free shipping, which is $41 below its original price and amongst the lowest deals we’ve seen that doesn’t require rebates or unique coupon codes. Best Buy and B&H have also dropped their prices. There’s no doubt this deal was brought forward due to the SoundLink Mini II being released over the summer (review here). But the original SoundLink Mini remains one of our all-time favorite portable Bluetooth speakers, so you’re still getting a solid performer with this deal. It includes a charging cradle and AUX port, but sound quality (especially bass) is this speaker’s best feature. More than 6,200 Amazon reviewers rate it 4.7 out of 5 stars.

Nest made a splash yesterday with the announcement of its third generation Learning Thermostat. But despite its larger screen and new Farsight feature, the second generation model is the better buy for most people at its new, lower price of $199 (Orig. $249).

[tweet https://twitter.com/llsethj/status/638719471918678016 align=’center’]

Nest did a great job of talking up how its third generation screen is a big deal, but in practice it probably won’t improve your life that much. Farsight sounds like it would be helpful, but how often do you really want to check in on your thermostat from 3-ft or more away or don’t have access to clock? Most thermostats live in hallways anyways, where you’re never more than a few feet away from its display. The other big improvement is Furnace Heads-Up that analyzes your furnace’s shutoff patterns, but that feature will also be rolling out to all previous generation Nest Thermostats later this year.

At the end of the day, it feels like Nest didn’t do enough to make the third generation Thermostat worth the extra $50 over its predecessor. That being said, you won’t always have this option since the second generation’s discounted price of $199 is only going to be around “while supplies last.”

Crowdfunding campaigns and startups are pushing out some of the coolest gadgets in the market, but getting your hands on them is sometimes tough since these companies don’t have distribution and logistics locked down. Amazon Launchpad is designed to make it easier for these amazing products to get into the hands of consumers faster. Jim Adkins, Amazon’s Vice President, explains:

Amazon Launchpad gives customers access to a dedicated storefront featuring a variety of innovative new products from emerging brands. For startups, we handle inventory management, order fulfillment, customer service, and more, allowing them to focus their efforts on the innovation that results in more cool products.

The Amazon Launchpad Store already has more than 200 products from various venture capital firms, startup accelerators, and crowd-funding platforms. Some of which have been around for quite some time and others that are brand new.

Many consumers (myself included) are hesitant to back a crowdfunding campaign due to the murky purchase process and vague shipping timelines, but if you can wait until they hit Amazon Launchpad you should have a relatively stress-free experience.

This move by Amazon shouldn’t come as a shock, back in March the online retailer opened a similar store dedicated to selling innovative products from emerging brands.

Here are some of our top picks from Amazon’s new Launchpad store:

• Kinsa Smart Thermometer: $29.99
• littleBits Electronics Premium Kit: $149
• Ube U1000 Smart Wi-Fi Dimmer: $89
• Bluesmart Smart Carry-On Luggage: $349
