Nintendo hosted its big summer Nintendo Direct presentation this week and it was…good. Not great, but good. I think the bevy of Nintendo leaks that have hit this year dulled the experience significantly for many folks, myself included, Nintendo stock has taken a bit of nose dive because of it, and more importantly, there’s more than a few gamers that walked away from the presentation far less excited than they should have been. So what’s next from Nintendo: Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time limited edition Switch 2 console? A proper influx of major Game Cube titles? Is there one more surprise 2026 game release?

Nintendo hosted its big nearly hour-long summer Direct yesterday, delivering a host of new world premiers and the official reveal of the long-rumored Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time remake for Switch 2. While we are still waiting for more details and release date on the Zelda remake, several of the new titles are now up for pre-order at retail at $10 off. The trend of Walmart and Amazon offering. New physical Switch 2 games with a discount ahead of release continues and today we have what will almost certainly be the lowest price these titles drop to before release:

Nintendo historically hosts a big Direct in June, but last year things were seemingly shifted because of the Switch 2 launch and this left expectations up in the air for 2026. However, industry insiders claimed we were getting something along those lines this month, and one of them just doubled down to confirm/leak the date.

Donkey Kong 64 is now out on the Switch Online N64 library as of this morning, and Donkey Kong Bananza was a blast, but for me the 2D-ish Donkey Kong Country experiences are still the best for me. And if you don’t have a copy yet, the wonderful Donkey Kong Country Returns HD release for Switch (also works on Switch 2) is now down at $44.99 shipped at Amazon and over at Walmart. Regularly $60, this is 80+ levels of Donkey Kong 2D platforming action with local co-op and variable difficulty levels for new players to deliver what is, at least for me, still one of the best DK experiences on Switch 1 or 2.

Just after Nintendo teased all-new official LEGO Donkey Kong sets, Nintendo announced the classic Donkey Kong 64 for Switch Online, and that day is here. The 1999 release is now live and playable in the Nintendo 64 – Nintendo Classics library for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members.

Nintendo didn’t just announce the major Nintendo Direct we are waiting for, but most assume it’s coming and several industry insiders are suggesting it’s going to be bigger than World 4 in SMB3. I’m not so certain, but there is a very good chance, based on leaks, rumors, and historical analysis, that something big is coming from the Mario Zelda maker.
Nintendo has officially announced Donkey Kong 64 for the Nintendo 64 Switch Online library. DK, Diddy, Lanky, Tiny, Chunky, and the DK Rap will arrive on Nintendo Classics in one week’s time in glorious 64 bit.

Remember the days when we used to get some seriously great deals on gaming consoles for holiday events and Black Friday? No? Well, I’m old enough to remember those days, and realistic enough to know they are long gone, at least for now. And that’s why you might want to take Nintendo’s new Switch 2 Choose Your Game bundle offer more seriously.

Nintendo had a giant 2025 with the launch of its next-generation console, record-breaking sales, and some top-tier game releases. This year has been a bit of a down turn – as the new Super Mario Galaxy Movie caught fire at the box office, Switch 2 sales have slowed, all of its big announcements for 2026 might have already leaked, and the stock price is dropping. It’s not all bad news though, and it has now confirmed there are still some as of yet (officially) announced first-party titles set to launch this year for its new console.

In case you somehow missed it, there has been a massive leak over at Nintendo. Somebody is stealing all of the Mushroom Kingdom’s biggest secrets and leaking them all over the internet. When is the next major Switch 2 game announcement going to be? Well, apparently very soon. Rumors and relatively reliable leakers have been divulging Nintendo’s 2026 release plans for a few weeks now, but it looks like what might very possibly be the most reliable of them all has just doubled down saying the first of these big announcements will happen this month.

Nintendo has a serious leak problem right now, as we have already discussed. It seems as though just about all of its major 2026 releases have already surfaced online, leaving very little to the imagination when it comes to the upcoming summer and holiday Switch 2 release schedule. There are couple of other titles that have been mentioned among the leaks and, while they don’t come from sources quite as reliable as some of the others, if they do end up coming to fruition we could be in for a new Wario Land game and a potential new classic Metroid remake this year.

Update 4/3: We have now updated this post with some additional leaked details on some potential upcoming Switch 2 releases.
As we have already reported, there have been some major Nintendo leaks surfacing across the interwebs over the last week or so, much of which coming from folks with solid track records for this sort of thing. While these sorts of early details and rumors were very much expected last year with the launch of the Switch 2, it appears as though much of the Nintendo 2026 launch plans have leaked already.

A brand new special edition, or rather themed, Monopoly set is now up to celebrate the (record-breaking) theatrical release of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. While the leaks and rumors regarding upcoming Nintendo plans have slowed to some degree compared to last year’s Switch 2 launch cycle, there have been some seriously exciting tidbits floating around as of late. Not the least of which, some fairly high-profile Nintendo Insiders have already claimed we are in for a complete remake of one of the most celebrated Nintendo titles of all-time: The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time. And now it looks as though there’s good reason to believe there will also be a special edition Zelda Ocarina of Time Switch 2 Console.
