Target ad leak reveals planned Apple Watch discount for iPhone purchasers

After launching Apple Watch just last week, a recent ad leak suggests that Target is already planning to discount the wearable. The deal extends a savings of 10% to any Apple Watch when purchased alongside an iPhone 6s or 6s Plus starting this Sunday, November 1st.

Usually these types of bundles that require iPhone activation are pretty meh, but this one is noteworthy since iPhone 6s is still brand new. If you go with the most expensive Apple Watch Target sells, this promo will save you $69.90. REDcard holders save an additional 5% on their order. This is the first Apple Watch discount we’ve seen from a major retailer. Target has also knocked $20 off the 2-year contract pricing for Verizon and Sprint iPhone 6s/Plus 16GB models.

Kickstarter veteran launches new HiddenHUB smart omnidirectional whole home audio system

Over the last few years, I have become a huge proponent of multi-room audio systems. The ability to play one song in unison across my home or hand-pick from a variety of sources in each space is one of my favorite technology advancements over the last few years. While AirPlay systems can be tweaked to recreate this setup, it doesn’t offer the same refined experience as SONOS and the like.

Kickstarter veteran, Hidden Radio Design, is back with a new whole home speaker system that actively accounts for the shape and size of each room. After raising over 1.6 million dollars on two prior campaigns, the focus has now shifted to the HiddenHUB, an omnidirectional speaker system that aims to knock off some of the biggest names in audio.

Staples offers the Apple iPad Air 2 in 64GB flavor in Gold/Silver/ Space Gray for $449 with free shipping os site to store. That’s $150 off the retail price and the lowest price we’ve seen on it new from a reputable retailer.  It offers full iOS 9 compatibility including split view and picture in picture (the only current Apple product to do so). Apple’s iPad Air 2 features a 9.7-inch Retina multi-touch display with a 2048×1536 resolution, it also has an A8X chip, M8 motion coprocessor, 8MP iSight camera with 1080p HD recording capabilities and Touch ID.

Apple is not expected to update the iPad 2 at the event next week but it may have a price drop. That said, we feel like at most it will be $100 less this week, meaning this is still $50 less.

Sensel’s Morph is an ultra sensitive Force Touch Trackpad look-alike

Apple’s introduction of multi-touch input on the original iPhone completely changed the way that we interact with our devices. Movements like pinch-to-zoom and now Force Touch have become engrained into the technology experience. The ability to recognize different levels of pressure and movements is being used to reimagine the way we manipulate software.

Sensel Morph is a new Kickstarter project that is providing a foundation for software-specific input devices that can be changed quickly and easily. This new device is centered around a keyboard sized slab that is layered with 20,000 sensors that work together to detect unique movements and pressure. Input is handled by different overlays that focus on a specific activity.

The new AfterShokz headphones bring bone conduction audio to Apple Watch

As an avid bike rider, I love to have a pair of Bluetooth in-ear headphones with me while I ride. Now that many wireless headphones (BT 4.0+) can connect to Apple Watch during workouts, it’s even handier than ever. One of the biggest worries about using in-ear headphones is that it’s difficult to hear noise around you when the music is cranked up. During outdoor physical activities, like biking down a country road for example, it can be difficult to hear oncoming traffic that may pose a risk to your safety.

That’s where AfterShokz: Trekz come in. This new Indiegogo campaign has developed a set of bone conducting in-ear headphones that keep your ear canals open but the music pumping. This project caught our eye, having already raised over 200% of its funding goal in just 24 hours.
