The problem with VR today is that it’s just not real enough. You can’t feel what your touching in a game or know when you’ve been hit in a battle. While we’re still light years away from a true holodeck like experience, Hardlight VR has just started pre-orders of what it calls the Hardlight Suit. It looks like a bulletproof vest-style garment that integrates not only feedback as you move, but also tracking of your torso and limbs.

KORG’s Gadget synth suite releases on Mac with huge launch day promotion + more

As we previously reported, KORG’s mobile only production/synth suite, Gadget, has now made its way to the Mac. The 7GB installer includes the entire suite of instruments (and more) found in the mobile version along with AU, VST, AAX plug-in versions so you can run them inside your DAW. Now if you were hoping you might be able to get these awesome little instruments on your Mac for around the same $40 it’ll cost you to get them on your iPad, think again.

The new KORG Gadget for Mac will run you $299, but it can be had for just $199 during the launch period promotion. Reports suggest the KORG store wasn’t quite ready for the traffic, but it appears to be up and running again now. The Mac version does not appear on the Mac App Store. While the price may seem steep, there are 30 instruments/gadgets inside of here, so by comparison to other third party options (which can be as much as $250 a pop or more), this really isn’t that bad.

In celebration of the release of Gadget for Mac, KORG has put a number of its popular iOS apps on sale and we are seeing a number of great prices here. Everything listed below is matching the lowest price we have ever tracked on the App Store, including Gadget for iOS.

iOS Universal: KORG Gadget: $20 (Reg. $40)

Sony announces expansion of its PS Now subscription service with the addition of PS4 games

Sony’s monthly subscription service, PlayStation Now, allows gamers to stream hundreds of previous gen titles at no additional charge to PS4 and PC. Announced today, it looks like the 480+ game collection already available on the service will be getting larger soon. In fact, Sony has decided to bring PS4 games to the service but it has yet to give any details on the lineup or launch dates. It sounds as though it could be soon though as the PS4 side of things will be going into private testing “in the next few weeks”. And apparently “active PS Now subscribers” should “keep an eye on your email in case” an invitation appears.

We do know that all of the games on the service including the soon-to-be-added PS4 titles will be included with “a single PS Now subscription”. But here’s to hoping it doesn’t come along with a price hike.

Rock Band creator Harmonix teams up with Hasbro on the new DROPMIX Music Gaming System

Harmonix knows its stuff when it comes to music-based games as the creator of both Rock Band and Dance Central. The developer has now teamed up with Hasbro to create a new DJ-like experience with its own hardware controller side of things. The system consists of the DROPMIX Board, NFC-equipped song cards and the companion iOS/Android app. Players drop a card on one of the Mix Slots and then the DROPMIX Board immediately starts playing the particular part (“bass, beat, loop or vocals”) of one of the many hit songs in the game. The corresponding software then analyzes the particular cards loaded into the board to create completely unique mixes using elements of each of the songs available:

Steep goes free this weekend: give the open-world winter sports Ubisoft title a try on PS4, Xbox One and PC for nothing

Ubisoft’s open-world, extreme sports sim Steep will be free to play all weekend long. PS4, Xbox One and PC gamers will get completely free access to the game: ski, snowboard, paraglide and wingsuit across the entire game map including the Alps and the recently added Alaska location. Simply load up the Steep page on PSN or XBL to grab the deal. You can see the exact times and dates the game will be made available on each platform below.

This can be a great way to give the game a try without being limited to a vertical slice before buying. And you’ll be able to transfer your progress to the full game if you decide to buy it after the fact. While the game will be 50% off on all platforms at the Ubisoft Store this weekend, it has dropped that low on Amazon several times.

  • Xbox One: 3/10 12:01 am PT until 3/13 11:59 pm PT
  • PS4: 3/10 10 am.PT to 3/13 10 am PT
  • Uplay (PC): 3/10 10 am PT to 3/13 10 am PT
