It’s no secret that the sneaker industry has blown up over the last ten years. Estimates show that Michael Jordan’s brand brings in well over two billion dollars per year. LeBron James just inked a lifetime contract with Nike that “easily surpasses Kevin Durant’s 10-year 300 million dollar deal.” While shoes have continually evolved as Nike has rose to prominence over the last 30 years, we haven’t seen much in the way of smartphone connectivity. While we can easily track our running data with a simple app, technology integration hasn’t gone much further.

A very successful Indiegogo campaign is ready to change that. After raising over $750,000, ShiftWear is ready to hit the market with its “adaptable shoes” that have a built-in display controlled by your smartphone. You have to see it to fully understand the potential here.

Xbox Store Digital Sale: Save on games, DLCs, more + free one-month trials for streaming services

Update (12/29 3:30pm): Microsoft has kicked off week two of the Xbox Store’s digital sale. Notable titles include: Fallout 4, Gears of War Ultimate Edition and Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain. You’ll find well over 50 deals for Xbox One and another handful of title for Xbox 360. View the entire sale here. Discounts are set to be available until January 7th.

Microsoft has launched the Xbox Store’s “biggest sale ever”. The Countdown is set to run for 17 days will deals on “hundreds of games, movies, TV shows and apps.” The sale kicked off today with a set of deals which will be refreshed periodically through the end of the year. Additionally, there will be daily specials that offer greater discounts along the way and extra savings for Gold Members.

While some of the prices are not as strong as the deals we see on physical discs in our daily games roundup, if you’re in the market for a digital copy this sale is your best bet. Another notable piece is the inclusion of many discounted add-ons and DLCs for popular titles like Destiny, Batman: Arkham Knight, Forza and more. Low-flow shower heads are not a new phenomenon. They’ve been around for some time, with varying degrees of annoyance for many years. The idea of saving water while enjoying a long, hot shower has been discussed and executed in many different ways. A new $3,000 shower that recycles (and purifies) our shower water was announced earlier this month with eyes on “revolutionizing” the industry. The Hamwells e-Shower is iOS-connected and re-uses every drop of water seven times. It’s goal is to significantly reduce our water and energy usage. The question is, will consumers buy-in?

As you have likely noticed from our daily app roundups and Holiday Game/App Sale post, hundreds of top-notch iOS/Mac apps are on sale for the holidays. Both the popular Hitman iOS games have now dropped from as much $5 down to just $1 each, but things get even better with the Essentials pack. Square Enix is now offering both Hitman: Sniper and Hitman GO as part of the Hitman Essentials bundle for just $1. At $0.50, and outside of an IGN freebie offer back in mid-2014, this is the best price we have ever seen on the “award winning” Hitman Go. This deal is also the very best price we have ever tracked on Hitman: Sniper since its release back in June.

As for Android gamers, both titles are on sale over at Google Play with Hitman GO available for $1 and Hitman: Sniper down to just $0.50.

PlayStation Now drops to $100/yr (55% off), adds collection of Batman Arkham & LEGO titles

By way of the official PlayStation Blog, Sony has now announced that PlayStation Now will be available for a limited time at $99.99 a year starting tomorrow. At under $9 per month, that’s around 55% off the usual yearly fee. Existing PS Now subscribers will be able to purchase the deal in order to extend their membership for an additional 12 months.

For those that don’t already know, PS Now is Sony’s back catalog service that offers hundreds of digital PS3 titles on-demand for a yearly fee. While there were already several Warner Bros. games available, Sony has also announced some new titles from WBIE including Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham Origins, Injustice: Gods Among Us, Mortal Kombat and F.E.A.R (Single-Player Campaign Mode). We are also getting some new LEGO games on top of LEGO Batman 2: DC Superheroes including The LEGO Movie Videogame, LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4, LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7, LEGO Batman: The Videogame and more.

While it may not be the back catalog service we all wanted from PS4, the addition of the new AAA titles and a nice price drop certainly adds some value here. You can opt for a 7-day free trial before going for the full year.

Monument Valley for iOS has gone free for the first time since it was released back in July of 2014. This popular vertical puzzler was Apple’s 2014 “Game of the Year”. Rated 4.5/5 stars all-time. Apple has now handpicked Readdle’s PDF Expert 5 for iPhone and iPad as the new App Store Free App of the Week. Regularly $10, we have seen it dip down to $5 a few times, but this is the very first time the popular app has gone free on the App Store since its release in early 2014. It has a 4.5 star rating from 7,658 reviewers. Compatible with OS X Yosemite and El Capitan, Readdle also launched PDF Expert for Mac just this morning.

If I could buy a router and modem that I never had to touch again, I’d pay…and pay well. Seems like I have to reset or manage a setting with a much greater frequency than I’d prefer. Of course, I’m loading it down like a pickup truck with about 19 devices. No matter, a better solution has to be out there.

Luma is hoping to sooth my ailment. With its “surround” multi-router approach, its goal is to provide greater coverage and simplified settings. Kind of like having a couple Google OnHubs around your home.
