[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9kJxrLSwHU?rel=0&w=853&h=480]
IGN has just announced that its free iOS game for the month of September will be Hitman GO. Typically priced at $4.99, this is the first time we have ever seen this game available as a free download since it was released back in April. Over 3,200 App Store users have rated it 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Here’s the premise:

You will strategically navigate fixed spaces on a grid to avoid enemies and take out your target or infiltrate well-guarded locations. You really have to think about each move and all the Hitman tools of the trade you would expect are included; disguises, distractions, sniper rifles and even 47’s iconic Silverballers.

To take advantage of this offer you must go through this IGN promo page and and click the “get my free game” button. From there, you will receive a unique promo code that can be used to redeem a copy of Hitman GO for iOS.

Automatic: Your Smart Driving Assistant for iOS/Android $80 shipped (Reg. $100)

Site default logo image

Amazon offers the Automatic Smart Driving Assistant for $79.99 shipped, which is a match for the best price we have ever for this appcessory. As a further pricing comparison, both Best Buy and Apple are charging full list ($99.99) for it.

Automatic plugs into your vehicle’s (1996 or newer) diagnostic port and transmits valuable information to your iPhone or Android smartphone that can help improve driving habits and save on fuel. Furthermore, it can remind you where you parked, diagnose and clear your check engine light, and find a nearby mechanic. Crash Alert (iPhone only right now) can help you get help and notify family members if you get into a serious accident.

We reviewed Automatic and found it to be a great product even at its retail price of $100:

While Automatic can’t make you be a better driver, it can certainly help you along the way if you’re willing to take a little coaching. The accessory gives you a subtle beep when you break or accelerate too fast or break 70 mph. Take your weekly score into account, notice what behaviors you repeat, and most importantly aim for fewer beeps and you’re bound to improve… if you’re willing.

Gameloft’s Modern Combat 5: Blackout gets a new trailer ahead of next week’s release

Site default logo image

Gameloft launched another trailer for its upcoming Modern Combat title. The mobile shooter franchise will be returning to iOS, Android and Windows 8 on July 24th with Modern Combat 5: Blackout. The game will once again feature an action heavy single player campaign as well as a full multiplayer suite and Spec Op missions that are separate from the main story.

In the trailer (above), we a see a little more of the same Venice setting we caught in the E3 trailer along with more gameplay footage and some light story elements. Gameloft recently confirmed the Tokyo level along with a character progression system and 4 soldier classes.

While Gameloft has been criticized for its more than obvious nods to popular console franchises, many of its arguably knock-off mobile titles have very strong ratings among users, so chances are MC:5 Blackout will as well. Gameloft’s last MC title, Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour is currently sitting with 4 stars from 11767 Ratings on the App Store.

Reviewers who have had a chance to go hands on with previews of the game (both single player and multiplayer) pointed out that the game plays very similar to MC4 and seem to have come away generally impressed. You can check out quite a bit more gameplay footage of MC:5 on Gameloft’s Twitch channel.

D-Link expands smart home lineup with new Wi-Fi Motion Sensor and mobile control app

Site default logo image

Following last month’s release of its new Wi-Fi Smart Plug, D-Link is now expanding its line of home automation devices with the new Wi-Fi Motion Sensor. Like the Wi-Fi Smart Plug, the sensor is designed to make your home smarter and safer and will automatically fire off a push or text notification to you as soon as it detects motion.

D-Link’s new Wi-Fi Motion Sensor can be used to know when the kids get home, when the dog goes outside or even if the garage door is opened, for example, but the functionality goes even deeper when paired with D-Link’s other Connected Home products and the new mydlink Home mobile app for iOS and Android.

Along with customization features for your smart home devices, the app also allows for various D-Link Connected Home products to work in conjunction with one another: “For example, easily pair a D-Link Smart Plug with a Wi-Fi Motion Sensor to make home electronics immediately react to motion, such as setting an action for the lights to turn on as you walk in the front door, another for a fan to keep the living room cool while you’re there, and another for music to play when you step on the treadmill.”

The new D-Link Wi-Fi Motion Sensor (DCH-S150) is now available direct from D-LinkAmazon and other retailers for $39.99.

D-Link is also announcing the new AC1900 Wi-Fi Router (DIR-880L) today as well. It features 11AC Wi-Fi dual band connectivity with speeds of up to “1300Mbps on the 5GHz band and 600Mbps on the 2.4GHz band.” D-Link says this is the “company’s highest end wireless router to-date.” It is available direct from D-Link at $189.99.

Microsoft’s new 365 subscription gets you Office on one Mac or PC & tablet for $69/year

Site default logo image

Microsoft is launching a cheaper ‘Personal’ Office 365 subscription today that will give you access to the cloud services and mobile apps for $69/year or $6.99/month opposed to the $99/year Home subscription. The new Personal subscription only provides access for one Mac (or PC) and iPad (or tablet) instead of the 5 PC or Macs and 5 tablets you get with a Home subscription.

You might want to hold off on the new subscription, however, as Amazon is currently selling the full Home subscription for just $63 (37% off). That’s cheaper than the new $69 Personal plan, but it’s possible Microsoft could soon end that discount and change prices on Amazon now that the new Personal subscription is launching.

Heartbleed Sale: 1Password for Mac/iOS/PC/Android is 50% off today

Site default logo image

Now just days after the 50% off iPassword for Mac sale ended, developer AgileBits is dropping half off both the OS X and iOS versions of its popular password security app in the aftermath of the massive Heartbleed bug. As Apple has confirmed that none of its software or services are susceptible to the vulnerability, Agile has now updated the 1Password listing on both the Mac App Store and App Store to reflect the 50% discount.

1Password on iOS is available today for $9 down from its usual $18 and the Mac version drops is just $25 down from $50. Both versions rarely see discounts this deep, the Mac version is the lowest we’ve seen outside of special bundle deals and launch pricing and the iOS version is within a dollar of the lowest we’ve ever seen it.

The 9to5Mac team loves this app for its simplicity, ease of use and rock solid security. 1Password acts as a vault for all of your website logins, credit card information and other confidential data. Features:

  • Create strong, unique passwords for every site
  • Secure your data behind a single Master Password
  • Protect yourself with tamper-proof Authenticated 256-bit AES Encryption
  • Auto-Lock keeps your data protected even if your Mac is lost or stolen
  • Use Security Audit to make your passwords stronger

Mac: 1Password: $25 (Reg. $50)
iOS Universal: 1Password: $9 (Reg. $18)

Agile is also offering deals on both the Windows and Android 1Password apps.
