Outside of adding more megapixels and upping resolution, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to improve on action cameras. GoPro has been out front of the pack for awhile with 4K video and ultra-compact options that fill the needs for most consumers. So when it comes to innovation, the best target for new entries into the marketplace is software. iOS connectivity is a must and most consumers just want to record their moments and have it instantly edited with automatic backup for later.
Enter Graava. Instead of leaning hard on technical specifications, it wants to simplify the video recording process down to the touch of a button. Its programers have modeled it after the human brain, focusing on sensory changes like sound or vision and even heart rate to capture the most important moments.

If you think Public Wi-Fi is secure, you’re playing with serious data-risk fire. That is, unless you use a virtual private network to secure your information, such as TigerVPN. 9to5Toys Specials is now offering a lifetime subscription for just $29.
By routing your traffic via intermediary servers, TigerVPN disguises your identity from would-be attackers, and the service gives you 15 nodes to choose from. This means you can select the fastest route, but it also gives you access to region-locked content (e.g. Netflix, Skype). Bandwidth is unrestricted, and the 10Gbps servers are designed to minimize lag. For added protection, there is the option to use 256-bit SSL encryption with a choice of protocols, PPTP, L2TP and OpenVPN. TigerVPN has mobile apps to keep you secure on the go, as well.
The deal takes 96% off the price of a lifetime subscription (normally $790). Head over to 9to5Toys Specials to grab it for $29.
Update (9/3 8:00am): Worms 4 has now hit the App Store and is available to download for $4.99.
Game developer/publisher Team 17 has been busy this week after putting a number of its games on sale, including Worms3 going free for the very first time as the App Store’s Free App of the Week. While still working on the Banjo-Kazooie spiritual successor Yooka-Laylee, today the team is announcing a pair of new Worms releases for both console and mobile:
Olio first announced its new luxury timepieces for iOS and Android back in March, today they’ve returned with new models made from custom materials. Its latest watches are available in 24 karat gold or 18 karat rose gold. The company has paid extra attention to the details this time around, creating custom batches of the material for these limited edition devices.
The rose gold is particularly notable, when I spoke with founder Steve Jacobs last week it was easy to see the passion behind this medium:
“It’s not just a new color, we’ve developed a new alloy that was custom designed for us”, he said. “The rose gold is a little bit darker, more of a chocolate hue that really looks nice. We’re like a craft brewery or artisanal coffee shop in that we make small batches of high quality products.”
Olio quickly sold out of the first batch of its watches and is
now ready to release a second run. This round will include 500 steel and black options, as well as 100 of each of the gold models. The new rose and yellow gold watches will retail for $1,195 with a leather band or $1,395 with a solid gold wrist-strap. These prices are a fraction of the cost that Apple charges for the Apple Watch Edition, with similar band options.
9to5Toys will be giving away a Olio Black Watch, valued at $745 in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned for additional details on how you could win one for yourself.
QuickShipElectronics (99.4% Positive feedback) via eBay offers the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 16GB Wi-Fi Tablet in White w/Pouch new open box for $169.99 shipped. That’s $160 off the original list price, $129 less than Amazon for a brand new one, and the lowest open box price we’ve seen by $20.
It comes with Android 4.4 Kit Kat and has a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm processor. It also has a 10.1-inch LCD touch display with a 1280×800 resolution. Additionally, there is front- and rear-facing cameras, 802.11n wireless, Bluetooth 4.0, and a microSD card slot.
Note: This tablet is in “the original packaging (which may be lightly distressed) and the original OEM accessories. A 1-year Quick Ship Electronics warranty applies.”
Over 2,000 Amazon shoppers gave it 4.5/5 stars and great reviews.
Today Kodak announced that its PIXPRO SP360 action camera was adding support for YouTube’s new 360 degree video capture and playback. This new feature allows viewers to see a complete representation of the area around the camera.
The videos are so unique in that they allow users to explore the video in all angles during playback. Instead of a still image that can be moved around, playback continues while the video is rotated. Kodak has captured some really cool videos out in the wilderness and rollercoasters that bring this technology to life.

We have all certainly experienced this dreadful feeling at some point: accidentally catching your iPhone or Android’s charging cord with your foot, sending your device helplessly spinning across the room until it strikes the floor. Apple has long had MagSafe technology as a part of its laptop power supplies, although it may be on its way out, but it has yet to find its way to iPhone or iPad. The same is true of Android devices, we’ve come so far and yet our phones are easily turned into sling shots with an accidental trip of the cord.
Enter ZNAPS. A new Kickstarter project that is bringing the same concept of MagSafe to any Lightning or microUSB charging cable. Based on the response from the Kickstarter community thus far, there are a lot of users that desire this type of connectivity.

The mobile Rayman games, as stellar as they are, have generally remained in the realm of the endless runner, but it looks as though Ubi might be attempting to bring a more console-like Rayman experience to mobile for the first time:

Amazon offers the Anki DRIVE Starter Kit Smart Robot Car Racing Game for $99.99 with free shipping, which is 33% below its regular price and a match for the best deal we’ve seen. Nearly 500 Amazon reviewers rate it 4.4 out of 5 stars. Features include:
Battle up to four Anki Drive cars per track and upgrade your vehicles with weapons and gadgets for complete race mayhem. Choose between two exciting game modes: Battle Mode and Race Mode. Whether you’re the first car to score a set number of takeout wins or you’re in an all-out fight to the finish line, you’ll be at the edge of your seat no matter what mode you choose. Feeling friendly? You also have the option to team up with your friends, family or the in-game commanders to battle against any opponents you want to challenge.

Back in December of last year Telltale announced that it would be working with Mojang on a story-based Minecraft title known as Story Mode. Quite a departure from the usual free-form, creative gameplay Minecraft took the world over with, the title looks to bring Telltale’s narrative touch into the mix. Today we get our first trailer for the 5-part episodic game (seen below), along with a quick glimpse of what to expect in terms of visuals and story.
This is not an online game, there is full dialog courtesy of Patton Oswalt and others, and there’s a definitive story arch and ending. While there is player choice driven content, like with other Telltale adventure games, players will be following along the story of Jesse and his friends as they attempt to save there world with the help of the Legendary Order:
Jesse and his group of friends revere the legendary Order of the Stone; four adventurers who slayed an Ender Dragon. The Order are the very best at what they do: Warrior, Redstone Engineer, Griefer, and Architect. While at EnderCon, Jesse and his friends discover that something is wrong… something dreadful. Terror is unleashed, and they must set out on a journey to find The Order of the Stone if they are to save their world from oblivion.
The game will be available as a digital download “soon” for Mac, PC, all major consoles (other than Nintendo’s), iOS and Android. Some reports suggest “soon” could be as early as the next few weeks.

Pebble has a long-time friendship with Best Buy, and now the smartwatch maker is launching the first widespread availability of its new Pebble Time through the retailer. Available for $200, the standard 22mm non-steel version of the watch is now available for consumers to put their claim on red, black, and white models.
While the Kickstarter Edition just recently began shipping to those who backed the watch, those just now realizing that they would actually like a smartwatch that has a color e-paper display, more than 5 days of battery life, and cross-platform compatibility are in luck:
We recently reviewed the Pebble Time, saying that while it does have its upsides, it still feels stuck in the past compared to the currently-available Android Wear devices and the Apple Watch. Long battery life is nice, but the lack of a touch screen and sketchy compatibility with iOS hold the device back—especially at this price point.

The latest Humble Bundle for Android has a number of notable titles in it like Monument Valley, Joe Danger, Blek and Tilt to Live 2. As usual with Humble Bundles, this is a pay what you want affair to unlock the first three titles, but you’ll need drop down at least $3.66 (at the time of writing) to unlock all 6 options (with another being added shortly).
Monument Valley and Blek regularly sell for $4 each on both Amazon and Google Play, so this is certainly a good value on top of the fact that a portion of your choosing goes directly to charity (EFF and Worldreader) and the developers. Monument Valley is clearly the standout title here, as it rarely goes on sale and currently sits with a 4.5 star rating from over 71,000 users on Google Play.
Monument Valley is a surreal exploration through fantastical architecture and impossible geometry. Guide the silent princess Ida through mysterious monuments, uncovering hidden paths, unfolding optical illusions and outsmarting the enigmatic Crow People.

9to5Toys Specials currently has the Revogi Smart Color Bluetooth LED Bulb for $35 with free shipping. It is a great price for a multi-colored, energy-efficient bulb.
The bulb connects to your phone (iOS/Android) via Bluetooth, and it can then be controlled through Revogi’s app. The LEDs are capable of producing sixteen million colors, any of which can be selected via a color wheel in the app, and moving the on-screen slider adjusts overall brightness. You can also set up “smart timers” to switch the bulb on or off at certain times of the day — waking up time and sunset, for instance — and the preset “scenes” offer quick access to certain behaviors, such as pulsing to the beat of music. The other major advantage of this bulb is its energy efficiency; it uses 90% less power than a standard bulb in the same socket.
