Amazon has quietly given its Prime members another valuable benefit: discounts on recently released and upcoming video games. Just yesterday we shared a couple of these deals in our daily apps/games roundup. At the time we thought they were just a couple of one-offs. But now we’ve come to learn that these types of deals may be here to stay.
These discounts cover select video game consoles, accessories, and games that are sold by Amazon direct. There isn’t an easy way to view all the current offers. The only way to identify a video game item as having special Prime pricing is to look for the “Amazon Prime member Savings” blurb (shown above) on each item’s listing.

Even Prime members on a free trial or discounted Student membership qualify for the special pricing. However, you won’t know the exact discount amount until you reach the final page of checkout. That means the advertised price never changes even if the item is eligible for Prime savings. So you’ll need to add the item to your cart and proceed to checkout to see exactly how much the discount is. Here are the best current video game deals for Prime members we’ve found so far:

There is a whole mess of LED and smart lighting options on the market today from traditional retailers and startup companies. Aside from saving energy and adding smart functionality, the ability to put out a custom color is one of the biggest selling points of these bulbs.
This is where Silk by Saffron comes in: a recent Kickstarter campaign that is setting out to combine the functionality of smart light bulbs with the ability to change the warmth or coolness depending on the time of day. Our bodies work better with certain color lights throughout the day. Cooler lights give us energy in the morning and warmer colors prepare for sleep at night.
But how Silk is doing it combines all that knowledge with smart functionality, creating a really cool solution to this unique problem.

With the biggest event on the gaming calendar about to kick-off on Sunday, more and more exciting game announcements are starting to drop. Today we get the reveal of a new Ratchet & Clank game coming to PS4, and it looks gorgeous.
While you’re likely already thinking, here’s another HD remake, and to some degree it is, but it looks like Insomniac is going the extra distance to make it much more than that. Already known for its amazing visuals, reminiscent of Disney or Pixar films, Ratchet has never looked as good as he does on Sony’s next gen console.
While very much based on the original PlayStation 2 classic and tied to the upcoming CG film release, Insomniac is adding in modern controls, several new planets to explore, both updated (and new) action sequences and more. You can expect more boss fights, additional gameplay with Clank, and a brand new arsenal along with some old favorites:
That means both new weapons and fan-favorite tools of destruction from the Ratchet & Clank Future series will fill out Ratchet’s kit. From the brand new Pixelizer (which transforms enemies into explosive 8-bit pixels) to franchise favorites like the dance-party-inducing Groovitron
Unfortunately, Ratchet & Clank fans will have to wait until the Spring of next year to get their hands on it, but the pre-order is already up on Amazon with the bonus “Bouncer” weapon from Going Commando for $39.99 shipped.
You can see some direct feed gameplay action below and expect more at E3 2015 next week:

There are a wide range of devices available for consumers today that are internet and smartphone connected.
