Fallout 4 for PS4, Xbox One and PC officially revealed with debut trailer

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lnn2rJpjar4

Update (6/3 1:35pm): You can pre-order Fallout 4 on PC over at Greenman Gaming for $46.20 using code SLICKD-EALS23-OFFGMW (Reg. $60).

It’s finally here. After over 7 years of waiting, Fallout 4 is real and you can watch the debut trailer above. A 24 hour countdown clock appeared on developer Bethesda’s site a day ago, which had some skeptics thinking we were about to get a Fallout mobile title. It’s not. This is the next main entry in the franchise and will be coming to Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Still light on details, it looks as though Ron Perlman will return, we catch a quick glimpse of the protagonist emerging from vault 111 somewhere in Boston and the Brotherhood of Steel is still making the rounds. Beyond that we will have wait for Bethesda’s E3 showing on Sunday, June 14th, where the game will be fully revealed.

And here’s a quick shot of the game’s box art (which has since been taken down) from the Fallout 4 website:

This is probably your last chance to score wave 4 amiibo figures: Robin, Lucina, Splatoon 3-pack, more

Nintendo released its latest round of amiibo figures this morning and if you didn’t camp out last night you probably didn’t end up with any. Most stores only had enough inventory to cover the first few people in line. That’s the bad news. The good news is that Amazon still hasn’t put any up for sale and unlike many retailers is actually being upfront about its plans. Here’s the memo from Amazon:

Throughout the afternoon of Friday, May 29, we’ll be posting each Wave 4 amiibo figure individually within the following time windows. Each will become available for purchase at a random time during that time frame. Mark your calendars for the following times tomorrow!

Pac-Man: 2:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. PT
Charizard: 2:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. PT
Inkling Boy: 3:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. PT
Lucina: 3:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. PT
Wario: 4:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. PT
Inkling Girl: 4:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. PT
Silver Mario: 5:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. PT
Robin: 5:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. PT
Inkling Boy, Girl, and Squid 3-pack: 6:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. PT

We’re limiting each amiibo figure to 1 per customer, and we’ll be disabling 1-Click Ordering. Additionally, it’d be helpful to make sure you’ve updated your credit card and shipping information to help you move quickly through the checkout process.

We’ve seen a tremendous amount of interest for the latest wave of amiibo figures and we’re always working with Nintendo to get our hands on more. While we cannot guarantee that every customer who wants an amiibo will be able to purchase one when they become available on May 29th, we are doing our best to make sure customers have an opportunity to purchase their favorite characters!

We thank you for your continued support and loyalty over the years.

~Amazon.com Video Games

A couple takeaways: all times are in PT (3 hours behind EST), each amiibo will randomly go up for sale during its designated time, you’re limited to one of each figure. Good luck!

New story-based adventure game from former BioShock devs puts players in the shoes of a blind protagonist

While we don’t tend to cover the wealth of games that take to Kickstarter for funding, this one caught our eye. Perception is an upcoming narrative-driven horror adventure game with elements of stealth and mystery created by former BioShock developers.

We have seen what feels like a countless number of first person, story-driven horror games pop-up across the indie game development world over the past few years. But you’d be wrong to put Perception in the same category once you take control of the blind protagonist Cassie:

It makes the concept of a universal remote truly convenient, and Blumoo is compatible with over 225,000 devices. The app is available for iOS and Android, and the Blumoo receiver has a range of 150 feet.

Screentendo can turn any part of your screen into a playable Super Mario Bros. level

Nintendo’s famous characters are everywhere, from adorning the top of retro-inspired amiibo stands, to a plethora of merchandise and soon, on mobile devices. But for developer Aaron Randall, that just isn’t enough. His new work-in-progress desktop app turns just about any part of your screen into a playable Super Mario Bros. level:

The aptly named Screentendo project allows users to select a portion of their screen for everyone’s favorite plumber to run around in. As you can see in the demonstration video above, a semi transparent window appears once the app is launched, which can be moved around and resized like any typical window. You then lay the window over an area of your screen, click in the middle, and then it analyzes the geometry of the images to create a traditional original Super Mario Bros. looking level, breakable bricks and 8-bit clouds included.

Unfortunately, there does not appear to be a compiled version of Randall’s Mario Bros. hack, so you’re going to need Xcode (or something along those lines) and a basic knowledge of coding to get the prototype up and running. Here’s to hoping that we will be playing Super Mario Bros. on the 9to5Toys logo in the near future.

This retro style amiibo display is going to give you flashbacks to the first Super Mario Bros.

amiibo fever isn’t dying down. Wave 4 preorders are sold out everywhere and people are losing their minds for the ultra cute Yoshi’s Woolly World amiibo. By now most Nintendo fans have a fleet of amiibo, simply putting them on a shelf isn’t going to do them justice.

Your amiibo deserve this incredible Power A Display. It is made to look like the end of Super Mario Bros. levels. Designed in retro 8-bit style, this $30 display stand is over 15-inches tall and 18-inches wide.

If amiibo demand is any indication, this display will probably sell out quickly so you should probably preorder it now. According to Amazon it should be released on October 1.

There’s no reason you should still be holding out on jumping into a PlayStation 4. Sony’s most recent game console has a host of terrific games including Bloodborne, The Witcher 3, and Mortal Kombat X with huge names in the pipeline for release later this year.

PlayStation 4 may soon be getting a price drop according to this leaked document

We’re no strangers to PlayStation 4 deals. There have been numerous straight-up price drops and value bundles since the system was released back in late 2013. However, Sony has stuck to its original retail price of $399, while Microsoft knocked the price of Xbox One down to $349 without Kinect.

There have been whispers of an official PS4 price drop, but now we may have the smoking gun:

The leaked document (above) from Sony’s retail loyalty site shows the average retail value (AVR) of PS4 being $349. It also goes on to list the PlayStation Vita at $89.

Now, the PS4 price drop is realistic and likely. Vita on the other hand, seems less likely since it’s such a steep drop from its current msrp of $200. Either way, we should get the full story next month at E3.

A one man Swedish design studio made a retro style arcade cabinet that looks like it belongs in an art museum

In my house video games are required, per my fiancé’s request (obviously), to be in the basement and out of sight. I’m sure my love for Mortal Kombat’s skull shattering gore doesn’t help my cause, but it’s more than that. She also hates the ugly boxes and nests of wires that come along with gaming consoles.

Now, if I had the Love Hultén PIXELKABINETT 42 I have a feeling things would be pretty different. This full-size coin-operated arcade cabinet looks like a priceless piece of fine art and supports hundreds of classic games…

Humble Bundle for Android: Monument Valley, Joe Danger, Blek, Tilt to Live 2 and more from $4

The latest Humble Bundle for Android has a number of notable titles in it like Monument Valley, Joe Danger, Blek and Tilt to Live 2. As usual with Humble Bundles, this is a pay what you want affair to unlock the first three titles, but you’ll need drop down at least $3.66 (at the time of writing) to unlock all 6 options (with another being added shortly).

Monument Valley and Blek regularly sell for $4 each on both Amazon and Google Play, so this is certainly a good value on top of the fact that a portion of your choosing goes directly to charity (EFF and Worldreader) and the developers. Monument Valley is clearly the standout title here, as it rarely goes on sale and currently sits with a 4.5 star rating from over 71,000 users on Google Play.

Monument Valley is a surreal exploration through fantastical architecture and impossible geometry. Guide the silent princess Ida through mysterious monuments, uncovering hidden paths, unfolding optical illusions and outsmarting the enigmatic Crow People.

IKAWA’s coffee roaster brings the experience home with iOS connectivity and custom recipes

While pour-over and siphon coffee are becoming more familiar experiences at home, roasting beans is typically left to the experts. One Kickstarter campaign is attempting to change all that, bringing all the capabilities of larger roasters to the kitchen with iOS connectivity as the cherry on top…

Wakē uses infrared sensors and parametric speakers to peacefully wake up one person at a time

We’ve all been there – your partner has an early meeting or prefers to get up before you do, the screeching alarm wakes you up, disrupting a wonderful night of sleep. Humans have searched for years to try to solve this problem without much success. While companies such as Philips have attempted to replicate a sunrise-like wakening experience, it is ultimately just a light that turns on slowly at a pre-set time.

A new Kickstarter program is aiming to change all that with infrared sensors, a parametric speaker and smartphone connectivity…
