Korg brings new ARP Odyssey soft synth to its Legacy Collection for Mac, now $100 off

$100 off

As of late, Korg has been known for its interesting iOS instruments/music-making software, as well as some of its hardware releases. The polyphonic Minilogue synthesizer, as well as the rest of its smaller and affordable Volca instruments have been very popular among home producers and synth enthusiasts over the past few years. We have also covered the company’s interesting Gadget synth platform for Mac and iOS for Logic Pros and have generally been impressed with what the company has to offer.

Well today, Korg is essentially breathing new life into its now aging Korg Legacy Collection. Originally released in 2004, the Mac and Windows compatible software instruments are getting an over haul along with some major new additions for 2018.

Samsung intros new 2-inch sound bar w/ built-in subwoofer ahead of CES 2018

While many of us are focused on last-minute gifts and some well-deserved time off over the holidays, most tech company’s are doing nothing of the sort. With CES 2018 just around the corner now, we are already starting to see new gear from some major players. One of the first out of the gate this year is Samsung with its new sound bar.

While we are certainly expecting to hear a lot more from Samsung at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the impressively slim design and built-in technologies the new NW700 Sound+ sports has us intrigued.

Control all your services/streaming boxes with the Caavo voice remote & hub

Keeping all of your streaming subscriptions and all the boxes that come along with them organized is still a bit of a chore. Despite recent efforts from most of the major players in the space, anyone invested in multiple services and set-top boxes still has to deal with a mess of cables and input switching. While Apple’s TV app is certainly headed in the right direction, it doesn’t really help much for those with multiple streaming boxes sitting atop the mantle.

Earlier this year we had a chance to take a quick look at what the 4K Caavo set-top box had to offer and now the company is ready for you to bring its all-in-one entertainment system home…

Review: IK’s latest iRig Keys I/O hybrid MIDI controller doubles as an audio interface

IK Multimedia has released loads of new generation products for portable and mobile musicians over the last 12 months. From the iRig HD 2 condenser mic and the sub-$100 iRig Pre guitar interface, to the new Syntronik for Mac/iOS, IK has something for everyone this holiday season. Back in August, the company debuted its latest MIDI controller product known as iRig Keys I/O. As expected with IK, this appeared to come along with everything you could want in a sub $300 controller, but this time around IK decided to take it one step further with a more all-in-one approach.

The controller keyboard-meets-audio interface brings a lot to the table for the price tag, but is it all a little too good to be true? We decided to put the company’s latest flagship driver to the test over the last couple weeks in a typical home studio environment across a number of different projects. Head below to find out more…

IK Multimedia is well-known for its affordable recording gear from audio/MIDI interfaces to microphones and much more. This past summer IK started to give out review copies of its brand software instrument known as Syntronik. The Mac plug-in features one of the widest collections of vintage synth emulations out there at that price point. We had a great time with it on Logic Pros for 9to5Mac in our hands-on review, but now the software suite is available on iOS…

The stellar puzzle-platfomer Fez is now available on iOS [Video]

$5

Fez was released on the Xbox Live Arcade back in April of 2012 to critical praise. After a notably long development time, the game went on to sell over a million copies in the first year before it was expected to hit other platforms.

After the year-long exclusivity deal with Microsoft lapsed, the game went on to release on PS4 and PC. While announcements were made regarding an iOS port around the same time, the colorful puzzle-platformer never hit Apple’s mobile operating system. But, after a very long wait, the Phil Fish designed Fez is now downloadable for iPhone and iPad.

Deus Ex Mankind Divided is now available on Mac w/ some extra in-game add-ons

When Deus Ex: Human Revolution dropped back in 2011 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, it marked the rebirth of a beloved classic franchise. After receiving critical praise and solid sales numbers, Human Revolution was followed up by the widely anticipated Mankind Divided in August of 2016. And now, just over a year later, Feral Interactive is ready to bring the cyberpunk-meets-tech-noir action game to the Mac.

The sub $200 Trueno for Mac is the “world’s smallest analog synthesizer”

Investing in home music production gear can be a pricey proposition. Keyboards, microphones, guitars, computers, and interfaces are all inherently expensive items. And even a somewhat modest setup like mine can require hundreds or even thousands of dollars in cables alone. So when we first saw the new hybrid Trueno analog synthesizer and its sub $200 price tag, we were excited to say the least.

Capcom unveils Mega Man 11 for Nintendo Switch/PS4/Xbox One [Video]

(Update 5/29 2:40pm): Mega Man 11 is now available for pre-order at Amazon on Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch for $39.99. Amazon Prime members will only pay $23.99 shipped.

Mega Man is one of those game series that has been around forever and no one wants it to go away. But from some reason Capcom has, for the most part, failed to give gamers their fix of the iconic Blue Bomber over the years. We last saw a Mega Man proper was back in 2010 when Mega Man 10 launched. That game, as well as Mega Man 9 before it, was essentially an old school 8-bit throw back, basically along the same lines as all of the classic titles in the series. But this morning, Capcom shocked the gaming world with the announcement of Mega Man 11, the release of the debut trailer (loads of gameplay footage included) and a brand new visual treatment…

The new Jim Beam smart decanter is like Amazon Echo for bourbon drinkers

After last year’s (not) borderline ridiculous Jim Beam Apple Watch contraption that packs a 1.5 oz. shot glass directly on your wrist, the company behind the “world’s best-selling bourbon” is back at it again. Another interesting piece of technology is on the slate for this year. This time around it is taking a cue from Amazon smart assistants and the like for its first-ever smart decanter.
