How to get started with vinyl: finding the right turntable, building your collection, more

In recent years vinyl has enjoyed an impressive resurgence as it found a home in our mostly digital world. The so-called “vinyl resurgence” started in 2007, slowly seeing sales increase over the next 10-years to levels not seen since the 1980s or earlier. If you’re anything like me, it’s easy to depend on Apple Music with an entire library at your fingertips. But vinyl offers a different experience, as there is just something about placing a record on to a turntable that Apple and Spotify simply can’t match.

Last year I dove into the world of vinyl strictly out of curiosity. In the meantime, I’ve enjoyed building a small collection and learning some of the nuances of this hobby. If you’re at all interested, check out the short guide below to learn how you can construct your own vinyl library from the beginning.

The Elder Scrolls: Legends will likely only be available on cross-platform-enabled systems

Amazon will automatically send you more coffee or snacks thanks to this smart container

Amazon’s Dash Replenishment Service arrived on the scene back in 2015 as a way to simplify your life. It was designed for manufacturers to integrate with various products, automatically re-ordering supplies such as ink for printers when needed. To date, the response has been somewhat lukewarm.

The service has primarily been embraced by the office supply community. Brother printers were a key partner at launch and has continued to offer various products with Dash functionality built-in. After that, third-party developers have been rather slow to jump on this service. A new product from WePlenish offers to automate the grocery buying experience by leveraging Amazon’s API in a new organizer. Samsung’s latest SSDs will reach capacities of 4TB at costs lower than before

Over time we have not only adapted to most laptops and desktops packing gigabytes and terabytes of storage, we now live in a world where smartphones with half a terabyte of storage actually exist. Each time larger capacity drives come out, early adopters pay high prices to get their hands on them. Within a year or so after release, pricing begins to drop as manufacturers discover ways to cut costs. While Samsung has had highly priced 4TB solid state drives available for over 2 years, the company’s latest advancements will make these storage capacities more affordable.
