The happiest place on earth is home to iconic theme parks, world class hotels, top-shelf food and, of course, Mickey Mouse. It’s become almost a rite of passage for kids to make a pilgrimage to Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida, but all of those pixie dust encrusted accommodations and entertainment options can get awfully pricey.
The good news is that there are many ways you can save significant amounts of money throughout your Disney trip. As a former Florida resident and annual passholder, I’ve been to Disney World more times than I can count and have spent way too much time on Disney fan boards, as such I’ve learned all the ways to trim your ticket, hotel and food costs. Continue on for a roundup of my top tips to save on your next trip to Walt Disney World.

Great stories are the heart and soul of Disney. They are the very essence of every immersive theme park ride, memorable piece of merchandise, and unforgettable song. Disney’s award-winning Animated iPad app offers a deep dive into the creative process behind these stories through “interactive images, animated clips with frame-by-frame control, Disney 3D characters to animate, and a rich timeline of all 53 Walt Disney Animation Studio features.” In 2013 Apple named Animated the iPad App of the Year.
Disney Animated is usually priced at $9.99, but it dropped down to a historical low of just $2.99 this morning. Heads up this app is massive. You’ll need 6GB of free space on your iPad to install it via the App Store, but it only uses 2.0GB when installed. If you don’t have that much free space, make your purchase on iTunes for Mac or Windows and then sync the app to your iPad.
Best Buy offers already low Blu-rays (50% off in most cases), but now when you add any two from this list (below) you can get a second one free for only $7.99 shipped. Most of these Blu-rays are listed at $15 or above, so you’re getting them at $4 a piece with this BOGO sale today. There…
Pixar changed the film industry forever when it released Toy Story back in 1995. And ever since then John Lasseter and crew have been releasing full-length animated films that push the limits of technology and storytelling. The incredible titles that Pixar has produced in such a short period of time is staggering: Toy Story, Up, Cars, Brave, and Monsters Inc. Just to name some of my favorites.
This Friday Pixar is releasing its next film called Inside Out. To mark this occasion iTunes is currently featuring a Pixar promotion that discounts every full-length Pixar movie as well as some apps and other goodies. Pixar/Disney movies rarely go on sale, especially on iTunes. If you’ve been meaning to fill out your movie collection now’s the time to do it. Each movie usually sells for $19.99:

It’s a great time to be a gamer as we continue to see old classics re-made into new current gen games (as long as it’s legal!). The latest to get a modern re-hashing is the vintage DuckTales 8-bit game from the 80’s. Today, Disney has released DuckTales: Remastered as a universal iOS app that features all the original characters with some new storylines sprinkled in.
Gamers will be able to play as Scrooge McDuck in this re-make of the classic side-scrolling game as he journeys through different parts of the world. Follow along as he travels to far off places such as the Amazon, Transylvania, and the moon. The game features voice-overs from all the original actors, retaining the authentic experience of this 80’s classic. DuckTales: Remastered supports Bluetooth controllers and is available for download today with a $9.99 price tag. There is also a console version available as well for Wii U, PS3 and Xbox 360.
Target offers The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies 2-disc pack for $13 with free shipping on orders of at least $25 and for all REDcard holders. If you don’t meet the order requirements to qualify for free shipping, then you should opt for free in-store pickup.
This week only, Amazon has discounted the Best of Warner Bros 20 Film Collection on DVD down to $41.99 with free shipping. As a pricing comparison, it frequently bounces between $50 and $75 and has never been priced this low before. Also includes a 24-pack booklet.
If you still need the original Despicable Me to round out your collection, it’s also just $10 Prime shipped. To help you put in perspective how good these prices are, just consider that Amazon is selling just the DVD of each title for only $0.04 less.
If you’re not a Prime member than either sign up for a free trial or just pad your order up to $35 or more to get free shipping.
