As they tend to do from time to time, Apple invented an entirely new product category with its AirPods. It seems that every other maker in the space has their own take on the all-wireless formula, though, which means you’ll have to do some head-scratching to make sure the right pair of earbuds find their way into your ears. The good news is that there are only a few key considerations to make before mashing that order button.
When it comes to truly-wireless headphones, AirPods have become exceptionally popular and have essentially created a new market. A common criticism of AirPods is cost, with the earbuds listing at $159. Several competitors have come, some even pull off the AirPods look while keeping cost low, but few can compare with Jam Live Loud’s $40 price. This cheap AirPods competitor delivers a ‘sleek, no-frills design’ that’s heavily-focused on affordability.

Today LG has introduced its first entry into the wildly competitive wireless earbuds space with its new Tone+ Free. LG becomes the latest company to try to hang in a product category dominated by Apple’s AirPods and that’s littered with lower-priced alternatives from overseas. LG hopes to stand apart from the crowd with a laundry list of specs, including fast charging which delivers a full hour of playback after just five minutes of being plugged in. There’s also a special case that LG says will help cut down on germs, something that can be a real problem with these devices. Hit the jump for more on the new Tone+ Free earbuds.

With Sony and Bose’s latest headphones often being hailed as the gold standard, it’s hard for many companies to compete. While Skullcandy is certainly well-known, its offerings can have a hard getting attention when compared with the big players. This could be in for a change however, thanks to the introduction of a new pair of over-ear bone conduction headphones that are seemingly without direct competition.

The launch of AirPods created a booming market for truly wireless earbuds. While Beats’ on- and over-ear headphones have taken a page or two out of AirPods’ playbook with the inclusion of Apple’s in-house wireless chip, none have tried to ditch the band. There is now more pressure than ever with the release of Human Headphones which are ‘the first true wireless over-ear headphones’.
Not only do they ditch the headband, they also can be turned into a ‘powerful Bluetooth speaker’ when both headphones are snapped together. Ambient sound can be configured by tapping the outside of an earpiece, allowing users to choose how much exterior noise makes it in.

When I first saw the new AUKEY Key Series True Wireless Earbuds, I found the number of features at such a low price point to be quite jarring. With Qi charging built-in, these earbuds are in direct competition with Apple’s recent top-tier release and yet they still manage to clock in at around half of the price.
Being an AirPods owner, I thought it would be interesting to write up a review that pits both Apple and AUKEY’s earbuds head-to-head. If you’re on the fence about buying AirPods, continue reading to see if the new AUKEY Key Series earbuds are a worthy alternative.

Just two weeks ago after we covered AUKEY’s truly wireless Key Series earbuds, a new AirPods rival has emerged that fully commits to Apple’s stem-like design. Instead of going inside the ear canal like Anker’s Liberty Air and many others, Happy Plugs Air 1 simply rest just outside of it, closely mimicking Apple’s popular offering.

Order Now!After buying a pair of new AirPods a couple days ago as a gift, it’s all too real just how pricey they can be. Apple tends to chase large margins, this leaves plenty of room for competitors to offer up much less expensive alternatives. With the official announcement of the AUKEY Key Series earlier today, AirPods have yet another rival.
The AUKEY Key Series consists of four different pairs of headphones, but only one is truly wireless. With USB-C and Qi charging support, many would agree that the new T10 earbuds set a standard that all AirPods competitors should meet.

For a long time, Bose has been the brand that everyone has been chasing, but Sony began to shake that up with its previously-released USB-C ANC offering. For many, a high price point has been a barrier, making the new and slightly more affordable pair of Sony XB900N headphones a nice alternative.
The Sony XB900N headphones match most of the existing XM3’s features. This is wonderful as we touted the XM3’s as the new ‘ANC King’ in our hands-on review. Standout differences in Sony’s new headphones include more punchy bass and a step down to an ANC chip that loses the ability to adjust for atmospheric pressure.
Order Now!When it comes to earbuds, most would agree that AirPods are the most sought after option on the market. With the Apple’s latest offering ranging from $159-$199, the new Skullcandy Indy headphones are a low cost alternative that the company hopes its customers will appreciate.
The new Skullcandy Indy earbuds offer a design that looks very similar to the iconic stem-like form factor seen in Apple AirPods. Even the charging case mimics what Apple customers are familiar with using. While they have quite a few differences, Skullcandy’s choice to opt for black as the primary color is likely to be one of the most warmly-welcomed differentiators.

Order Now!Master & Dynamic is a brand whose industrial design has always been nothing short of impressive. While the company has released plenty of headphones, it has never released an offering that competes directly with ANC offerings from big names like Bose, Sony, and Beats. This changes today with a stunning new pair of Master & Dynamic ANC wireless headphones.
Much like the Sony XM3s, Master & Dynamic is passing up the opportunity to give its headlining headphones a name that can easily be remembered. It has chosen to label them with a boring model number of MW65, but for many that will likely be their only complaint.

The number of hits that come up when searching for a new gaming headset can easily overwhelm anyone. This is a category where I can be confident when saying that a high percentage of the results are not worth the investment.
For a product category like this, it’s likely best to stick with brands that have been in the business for a while and have a solid track record of pleased consumers. Turtle Beach is one of these and its all-new Turtle Beach Recon 70 Series headsets are a follow-up to the best-selling Recon 50s with new features at a budget-friendly price.
It’s not often, but there certainly are times, when I miss the simplicity and reliability of plugging into a physical headphone port. While most would agree that the benefits of wireless headphones easily outweigh their drawbacks, there are times when wired connections can be preferable. Moshi now has a forward-thinking solution for when those times occur.
With the release of Moshi Avanti C, the company has a new pair of wired on-ear headphones that embrace a USB Type C future. By focusing less on USB-C in addition to 3.5mm, Moshi Avanti C achieves wider compatibility for newer devices.

Apple’s in-house earbuds, AirPods, have largely held the title as the best truly wireless option out there over the last year. But that hasn’t stopped competitors from trying to topple the throne. After admitting that Bluetooth was an okay standard for wireless audio, I’ve been on the hunt for a set of wireless headphones that work well, sound great, and are comfortable and versatile. Enter the Sony WH-1000XM3.

Most recently, Sony announced the third iteration in its WH-1000X series, the 1000XM3s (Mark III’s), and these are really close to being the headphones I’ve been searching for.
