Today, Ideas is celebrating a decade of fan-designed kits by releasing its latest in the series, the LEGO Pop-Up Book. This year has been filled with some pretty eye-catching LEGO kits. Ideas assembled a mighty Voltron and we were able to ride in style with a souped-up Aston Martin. But now that the fall lineup of LEGO releases is here, we’re getting a look at some more must-haves. While the new Cloud City set has taken the spotlight, another new release debuted just last week. Back in August, we got one of our first looks at the upcoming LEGO Overwatch line of sets. Today the first of these kits is finally available for purchase. LEGO has announced that it will be debuting an entirely new line of more experimental products designed with older builders in mind. To make room in its lineup for new and upcoming releases, LEGO periodically retires older kits. Rarely does one of LEGO’s discontinued models ever go back into production. Last year’s remake of the Taj Mahal being one of the few notable exceptions. Today, yet another mid-2000s set is getting a re-release, the Creator Expert Vestas Wind Turbine. July has been an exciting month in the LEGO world, with the debut of the new 6,000-piece Hogwarts Castle, the release of the 007 Aston Martin DB5 , SDCC kits and more. The latest fan-made kit from LEGO Ideas, Voltron, is only a week or so away from getting its wide-scale release as well, but today we’ll be turning our attention to other builds from the crowd-funding campaign that are still vying to become real kits.
In the past few years of LEGO releases, the company’s lineup has been defined by a two-fold focus: releasing larger, more part-intensive kits packed with eye-catching details alongside expanding its lineup of offerings by bringing in as many partnerships with existing IPs as possible. LEGO’s most recent release just so happens to fit into both categories, with the all-new Aston Martin DB5 packing many iconic features and details from the James Bond franchise, the first LEGO kit to tie in with the famous spy flicks.
As we reported last week, LEGO debuted its most recent kit in partnership with the British luxury sports car manufacturer, Aston Martin. Stacking up to just under 1,300 pieces, the 007-themed DB5 is sure to be one of this year’s must-have sets. Luckily we got our hands on it prior to widespread release and will be diving in to see if the brick-built recreation of the iconic ride stacks up to a gadget worthy of the famous secret agent or if Q should have just left this one in the shop.

Over the past few years, some of the most notable LEGO releases have been from the Technic line of sets. Aside from a few outliers like the UCS Millennium Falcon and the Taj Mahal, if you’ve been looking to pick up the most massive kits you can, odds are you’d opt for one of the many Technic vehicles.
Back at the end of January, LEGO teased the eventual release of its latest Technic kit, the Bugatti Chiron, and now we’ve finally gotten the full scope. Stacking up to just under 3,600 pieces, the massive brick-built recreation of the famous super sports a slick blue exterior and plenty of details.
With May on the way out and with summer on the horizon, this past month has been packed with significant LEGO releases and announcements. With new BrickHeadz, smartphone-enabled kits and the latest Ideas set from this morning, LEGO has certainly been on a roll throughout May. And for fans looking for a chance to have their creations adapted by LEGO, this past month has seen plenty of potential new kits landing on LEGO Ideas.

Of the seven builds that managed to lock in 10,000 supporters in the third part of 2017, only one was inevitably chosen to hit store shelves as a bona-fide LEGO kit; the fan-favorite Pop-Up Book.
