Halloween 2023 here and so is a new classic Castlevania experience for Switch Online members. Just after the launch of Mario Party 3, the next influx of Nintendo Switch Online games are now at the ready. Nintendo has now taken to its official X (Twitter) feed and YouTube channel to debut the October 2023 Game Updates in the form of some classic GameBoy action and obscure NES titles that are now available to play for all base tier Switch Online members. The latest addition to the Switch Online game library is on its way in the form of Mario Party 3. Members of Nintendo’s online service will be able to “punch, pound, and stampede right over” their opponents starting later this week. Today’s announcement comes on the heels of new Switch Online titles like the Metroidvania-style Kirby & The Amazing Mirror alongside previously Japan-only classics and the Pokémon Trading Card Game, but Nintendo has now turned its attention to one of its vintage family party games with the third-entry in Mario’s multiplayer experience. I am not the biggest Mario fan, at least not historically. I’ve enjoyed all of the classics at this point, but if you asked me what my desert island Switch game would be, the iconic red and green plumbers wouldn’t be anywhere near the top of my list. But now after a weekend with Super Mario Wonder, that might just be changing.

Nintendo 3DS and Wii U online support is going away for good. We previously reported on the permanent closure of the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS shops, and it looks like online services for both platforms are now on the way out as well. It’s always sad to see the end of an era and Nintendo has now officially announced that “online play and other functionality that uses online communication will end service for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U software.” That means that starting in spring of next year, just about all online action on these platforms using Nintendo’s servers will be no more. The next-gen Nintendo Switch looks to indeed be a real thing now. Rumors of the next-generation Switch have been floating around the interwebs for years now, but it looks like some of the first real solid proof of it being in the works has surfaced. Nintendo has now revealed the next additions to its Switch Online Game library and this time they are landing in the NES, SNES, and GameBoy Color collections. The Nintendo OREO cookie campaign isn’t done just yet folks. A few weeks back, the two brands came together to launch special OREO cookies embossed with characters and items from the Mushroom Kingdom, and now they are back with the special-edition Princess Peach snacks. While the original Nintendo OREO cookies are still available for purchase on Amazon (currently on sale for $3.50 Prime shipped), it’s going to be much more difficult to land the Princess Peach packs. New Pokémon Switch Online games are on the way – Pokémon Stadium 2 and Trading Card Game are headed to Switch Online starting today. As announced during today’s Pokémon presentation, some new pocket monster titles are headed to Nintendo’s Switch Online Game Boy and N64 libraries. While they might not be the Pokémon Game Boy titles most folks were hoping for, they are still notable addition to the offerings if you ask me. Red Dead Redemption for Nintendo Switch is officially on the way now. It tends to take a while before Rockstar’s beloved and behemoth open world titles make their way on to Nintendo hardware, but we now know the epic Red Dead Redemption is arriving very soon. A new trailer posted on both the official Rockstar site and the Nintendo UK YouTube page confirms as much, stating that both the Undead Nightmare DLC and the game proper will land on Nintendo Switch later this month come August 17, 2023. Pikmin 4 is set to release next month on July 21. Ahead of time, Nintendo invited me to come check out what the fourth installment of the franchise is all about. Last Thursday, I got to spend over an hour and a half playing Pikmin 4, exploring all there is to be excited about from the upcoming game. Here are my first impressions on the story mode, refreshed gameplay, and the new Dandori Battle versus mode, alongside nearly 10 minutes of new footage from the game.
