Nintendo 64 Switch Online games are official! Nintendo 64 and SEGA Genesis games, along with some new wireless controllers to match, are all on the way. Nintendo announced this as part of yesterday’s Direct presentation. Alongside the official reveal of the new Kirby and the Forgotten Land, more details on Splatoon 3, and our first good look at Bayonetta 3 gameplay, Nintendo officially announced the upcoming inclusion of both N64 and Genesis to its online Switch service. Those games will also be supported by some not-so-affordable new wireless SEGA Genesis and Nintendo 64 controllers that seem only to be available to Switch Online subscribers — much like the already available Super Nintendo and NES variants. However, it sounds like these titles will only be available as part of a new and likely more expensive Switch Online membership tier. More details below. 

Happy Nintendo Switch OLED launch day! After years of rumors surrounding a 4K Nintendo Switch console, Nintendo took just about everyone by surprise when it unveiled the new Switch OLED model back at the beginning of July. While some folks already managed to secure one when pre-orders kicked off about a month later, we are expecting some listings to go in and out of stock for the rest of us today. It’s time to take a look at some Switch Bluetooth speakers now that Nintendo has introduced support for the wireless audio standard. Nintendo Switch price drops could be on the way in the US if a recent official move in Europe is any indication. Nintendo has now brought the suggested retail price for its base model Nintendo Switch in Europe down, as reports suggest, to make way for its more expensive OLED model launching in October. Nintendo is known for many game franchises, but Metroid is one of few that is known for creating a genre of its own. With a large number of games in the series that date all the way back to the company’s original NES console, it’s safe to say that this title has withstood the test of time. Metroid Dread is the latest to join the franchise after being originally announced during E3 2021. Delivering a massive recreation of the iconic Question Block from Mario, the over 2,000-piece build arrives with micro-scale recreations of levels from Super Mario 64. Nintendo Switch Online Game Boy titles are reportedly on the way. Nintendo’s online service is already filled with titles from its classic game systems, but judging by a series of reports this week, including various independent sources close to the matter, Nintendo might very well be announcing the inclusion of Game Boy and Game Boy Color titles as early as this month. Remember Big Brain Academy for Nintendo DS? Well, a new version is now coming to Nintendo Switch. Taking to its Twitter feed and official YouTube channel this morning, Nintendo has now unveiled the new Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain — it’s new brain-teasing puzzler party game for Switch. This one continues Nintendo’s support of more casual, family-oriented games on its flagship platform with a Mario Party-like experience that is specifically tailored toward brain teasers, puzzlers, and other challenges to get you thinking, just without the colorful Mushroom Kingdom characters. A new PUMA Nintendo collaboration has now been unveiled. PUMA has had a Nintendo license secured for a while now – we saw some Super Mario Sunshine and Galaxy shoes previously – but this time around, the sprinting and lifestyle brand is tapping into Nintendo’s super-popular island life simulator for its latest crossover collection. After Puma and Nintendo teased the new collaboration yesterday saying, “Something new is on the horizon,” images and details of the collection have now surfaced. It’s now time for the next Nintendo Indie World Showcase. Nintendo last checked in with its ongoing indie game showcases in April, but we are now in for another 20 minutes of games heading to Switch this year and beyond. This is a great way to get a look at some of the more interesting and unique titles heading to the Switch library over the course of this year, as well as offering up a chance to see some brand new, unannounced games. An original copy of Super Mario Bros. has just sold for a whopping $2 million, according to reports. That completely destroys the previous record-holder — a sealed copy of Super Mario 64 that went for $1.56 million just last month — for the most a video game like this has ever sold for. Today is the launch date of the latest Zelda title on Switch, with Nintendo bringing the contentious Skyward Sword to its hybrid console for the first time. The new Nintendo Switch OLED pre-orders will be going live starting today at various retailers. Nintendo came out of nowhere at the beginning of the month to finally unveil the next iteration of its Switch hardware with the new OLED model in two colorways, matching accessories, and more. While it was still unclear at the time when listings would go live, we now know Nintendo Switch OLED pre-orders will be available starting today at 3 p.m. ET. A new TAG Heuer Nintendo watch is on the way. We have covered our fair share of crossover watch collaborations, including the AP Black Panther timepiece and these TAG Heuer x Porsche models, but this will be essentially the first luxury Nintendo wearable yet. The new Monopoly Animal Crossing game board is now up for pre-order. After quickly appearing at Walmart and GameStop before being taken down (it still appears in some GameStop stores by the sounds of it), Entertainment Earth is now offering pre-orders on the new special edition Monopoly set at $24.99. While we await pre-order listings for the new Switch OLED console model Nintendo announced this morning, it looks like fans of its adorable island-building game world are now able to (legitimately) order the new Monopoly Animal Crossing Edition board game. Following Nintendo’s announcement of the Switch (OLED Model), we’re now taking a look at two upcoming games, with one launching today and the other coming sometime next year. Ubitus K.K. is a “world-leading cloud gaming provider” and today announced the release of A Plague Tale: Innocence – Cloud Version, as well as the upcoming launch of A Plague Tale: Requiem – Cloud Version coming sometime in 2022 to Nintendo Switch. Given that we saw no actual performance increase for the Switch (OLED Model), it’s evident that more demanding games like A Plague Tale and Hitman before it will continue to be the solution for portable gamers. After years of speculation, Nintendo just took to its official Twitter feed to unveil the brand new Nintendo Switch OLED model. It is said to bring the “versatility of the Nintendo Switch experience with a vibrant 7-inch OLED screen, a wide adjustable stand, and more.” It is set for release on October 8, 2021. With rumors of a potential Nintendo Switch Pro console announcement looming, we now have details on the Nintendo E3 schedule for this year’s show. After last year’s event was cancelled, the ESA confirmed this year’s all-digital show in April followed by details on the virtual show floor, social lounges, and the usual smattering of broadcasted events. And now, Nintendo has taken to its official Twitter account to confirm the details of its E3 showcase, but it doesn’t sound like this is where we are going to get details on the new Nintendo Switch Pro (maybe). Rumors of the fabled new Nintendo Switch Pro console have been making the rounds for years now, and the latest suggests the unannounced flagship Nintendo console could hit as early as September. That, in combination with previous rumors surrounding an OLED Samsung display and 4K NVIDIA GPU, alongside a recent listing for the console on the Mexican Amazon, suggests we might actually be getting the Nintendo Switch Pro this year. Not to mention, a September/October 2021 release would fall in line perfectly with Nintendo’s typical console launch schedule. Head below for more details. 

We now have the official release dates for the next open-world Pokémon games including Pokémon Legend Arceus and the upcoming remakes Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. After seeing some enhancements to Super Mario Party and the release of PAC-MAN 99 battle royale, Nintendo has now unveiled the next entries to the Switch Online game library. While this month’s additions aren’t quite as popular as some of the Donkey Kong and Mario titles, it will bring the total number of games available to subscribers to more than 100. While new games aren’t landing on the server quite as regularly as they once did a couple years back, the library has since become an impressive one and is really the main reason most gamers will pay the $20-per-year fee for it. Star Wars Day game deals are now starting to go live on the digital Xbox store, Nintendo’s eShop, the App Store, Google Play, and PSN. While we are still a few days away from this year’s big May the 4th celebration, as is customary, the game deals are already going live. Microsoft has kicked off a wide-ranging Star Wars game sale featuring titles new and old alongside some classics on the eShop and we are even starting to see some PSN price drops as well. Nintendo is finally issuing a free update to introduce proper Super Mario Party online play. While the game launched back in 2018 with some online action included, there were only a small number of mini games that could be enjoyed over the internet with friends, which is something that always seemed lacking for a flagship Nintendo at-home party game. But with the free update that’s launching today, all but 10 of the 80 in-game activities can now be played with friends online. Just in time for the release of New Pokemon Snap at the end of the month, Fujifilm is launching a new mini Nintendo Switch printer. Based on the brand’s Instax Mini Link smartphone printer, Fujifilm and Nintendo have now joined forces for a special edition model that will allow gamers to print directly from their Switch console to the printer via a dedicated smartphone app. The oddly named INSTAX Mini Link for Nintendo Switch Smartphone Printer is not just for New Pokemon Snap, though. The new blue Nintendo Switch Lite will join the yellow, gray, and turquoise launch colors alongside the pink coral model that dropped in February of of last year. A new Pac-Man battle royale game known as Pac-Man 99 is releasing on Switch today. In what appeared to be a surprise announcement on its Twitter feed yesterday night, Nintendo of America announced that “PAC-MAN is back in a new 99-PAC-MAN battle royale!” The new multiplayer take on the classic is not only a Nintendo exclusive, but also only available to Switch Online members and will go live later today. After rumors suggested an upcoming new Nintendo Switch console was in the works with a Samsung OLED display, new details suggest it will be supported by an NVIDIA GPU. According to a new Bloomberg report citing sources close to the matter, Nintendo has tapped NVIDIA to supply a Deep Learning Super Sampling GPU for its allegedly new Nintendo Switch console.
