Today, Apex Legends announced its first new map since Season 7 in November of last year. Storm Point, the latest map coming in Season 11 Escape, introduces a number of new gameplay elements and other factors that will change how you play Apex Legends. It’s the biggest map to date, around 15% larger than World’s Edge, and is based on the planet Gaea, which houses a long-forgotten IMC research base. The map features a diverse set of locations, including tropical islands, giant mountain slides, and more. This has me the most excited I’ve been about Apex Legends in a while, so let’s dive in.

After a less-than-stellar first impression, Microsoft has now unleashed the new Halo Infinite campaign overview trailer and things are looking much better. The initial gameplay reveal for the most anticipated Xbox Series X game didn’t go over well with fans last summer, with some rough visuals and a lackluster presentation overall, but it appears 343 Industries has made leaps and bounds on the Halo Infinite campaign since then. Dbrand has now unveiled a new, redesigned set of PlayStation 5 face plates, or Darkplates as they are officially known. The new designs come just days after legal action from Sony forced the brand to remove the previous-generation models from its website. Nintendo 64 Switch Online games are official! Nintendo 64 and SEGA Genesis games, along with some new wireless controllers to match, are all on the way. Nintendo announced this as part of yesterday’s Direct presentation. Alongside the official reveal of the new Kirby and the Forgotten Land, more details on Splatoon 3, and our first good look at Bayonetta 3 gameplay, Nintendo officially announced the upcoming inclusion of both N64 and Genesis to its online Switch service. Those games will also be supported by some not-so-affordable new wireless SEGA Genesis and Nintendo 64 controllers that seem only to be available to Switch Online subscribers — much like the already available Super Nintendo and NES variants. Battlefield 2042, the latest installment in the series and originally announced on June 9, is seeing a delayed launch. Originally slated to release on October 22, the game will now launch on November 19, almost a full month later. It looks like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X Cyberpunk 2077 upgrades alongside the promised next-generation Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are still on pace to land in 2021. As per a recent CD Projekt financial report, the Polish-based game developer is still targeting a late 2021 release date for the proper next-generation versions of its two flagship titles. We already knew both upgrades were slated to launch this year, but with all of the delays hitting the industry still, it was becoming harder to believe CDPR could make it happen. After Sony announced third-party SSD support and reports of a new PS5 SKU on the way, we now have new details on the not-so upgraded PlayStation 5. After the new SKU was spotted in Australia and elsewhere, select folks have now got their hands on the new PlayStation 5 model to tear the thing up and find out what’s really going inside. A few minor changes were made to the stand base and the like, but it was the drop in overall weight most gamers were interested in. Amazon’s first open world game, New World, is finally nearing its official release following multiple delays. First announced back in 2018, the game is finally getting ready to be officially released, though the current launch date is a full month after the previously set August 31. New World is slated to enter open beta on September 9 with a full release on September 28, which is just over a month away at this point.
