Amazon is getting into the video game business, but there have been quite a few delays. Crucible, the company’s first game, was originally set to launch in March, some six years after development began. That launch date got pushed back to May and thankfully was on time for that. New World is a completely different design and was originally going to launch in August of this year. But, due to some delays, Amazon is pushing back its launch and final beta test to the spring of 2021 — nearly a full year later.
Ahead of this weekend’s scheduled E3-like Ubisoft presentation, it looks Far Cry 6 has already leaked. A listing for the game appeared on the PlayStation Store in Hong Kong, seemingly revealing an upcoming official announcement as well as details on the game’s setting, release date, and more. A new PlayStation Indies initiative is being unveiled today along with a host of PlayStation 5 indie games. Shuhei Yoshida — the head of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s PlayStation Indie division — took to the official PS Blog today to reveal new plans in the indie game space. After showing some love to small development houses in last month’s wide-ranging PlayStation 5 showcase event, Yoshida and PlayStation are now doubling down on the platform’s commitment to independent developers for this generation and next. Last month, we got our first look at the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 remaster. We’re now getting our first look at the skaters that the game is launching with. The original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater franchise was a genre-defining moment in gaming, and the team is hoping to do that once again. EA just finished announcing new titles, updates, and more during its EA Play event. However, an announcement I was expecting to come at the end was actually the leader of the event: Apex Legends. Apex is one of my favorite games right now, and I play it more frequently than any other title in my library. Starting June 23rd, Apex will be getting an all-new takeover event where Crypto reigns supreme. But, that’s not all that was announced at EA Play for Apex Legends, as the game will be gaining cross-play later this year along with a Steam and Switch port, so keep reading to find out more.
One of the biggest and most exciting announcements from last week’s exciting PlayStation 5 games showcase was Horizon Forbidden West. A sequel to 2017’s well-received Horizon Zero Dawn, HFW continues protagonist Aloy’s story into a new territory set in the post-apocalyptic USA. While the actual NFL season seems more in limbo than ever before, we can now count on the release of Madden 21 right on time.
