Today, Nintendo’s latest first-party title is launching on the Switch. While Wii U owners had a chance to dive into Pikmin 3 when it was released the first time around, Nintendo is giving gamers another chance to play the latest title in the franchise in a new deluxe version that I’ve been exploring over the past week for this review. Spider-Man: Miles Morales — the follow-up to the 2018 Marvel’s Spider-Man title — is getting some interesting Into the Spider-Verse crossover content. The film essentially put Miles’ iteration of the web-slinging hero on the map for the masses, and developer Insomniac has decided to bring his iconic red and black suit into next month’s release of Spider-Man: Miles Morales. We got our first look at Final Fantasy XVI last month as part of the PlayStation 5 game’s showcase. The lengthy “Awakening” trailer Sony showcased gave us a good look at the game’s characters, setting, cutscenes, and enemies, but details on the experience were thin at best. Since then, Square Enix has updated the official site with a host of new details on the game world and characters just before the game’s producer, Naoki Yoshida, took to the official PlayStation Blog to offer even more information on the protagonists, summons, and more. Bungie has been hard at work delivering new content to Destiny 2 year after year. Last year, we saw New Light, and the year before that we got Forsaken. This time around, the team at Bungie is going a different route, and exploring the opposite of New Light…with Beyond Light. Yeah, the title is a bit cliche, but Destiny 2 Beyond Light will take you to places where no Guardian ever thought they’d travel. You’ll be heading into the darkness because that’s the only way to defeat it.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Apex Legends would be coming to Steam and Nintendo Switch, with cross-play also being released. Well, earlier this month, cross-play was indeed released, but the Steam and Switch ports were nowhere in sight. That all changes today…well, for Steam users, that is. Switch gamers, we’re sorry, but it looks like you’ll have to wait till next year. However, Season 7 and Steam support for Apex Legends will be available on November 4, so keep reading to find out all the details on when we can expect the Switch port, and what’s to come in Season 7.

Microsoft took to YouTube today with an official next-generation Xbox Series X walkthrough. The lengthy video highlights “faster load times, higher frame rates, and more dynamic game worlds,” with the main focus being on the user experience of booting up an Xbox Series X or S on launch day. While this isn’t a full-on teardown video like we got from Sony recently, today’s presentation showcases the Xbox Series X and Series S redesigned user interface, sharing features, quick resume access, and more. Today, Nintendo announced that it’ll be permanently lowering the price on its replacement Joy-Con controllers. The company had been charging a premium to replace a broken or defective part of its unique Switch controllers, but now, pricing is being dropped to $40 from the original $50. The first custom PS5 plates to alter the PlayStation 5 color scheme have surfaced. PlayStation 5 will launch next month in one colorway with stark white panels or wings surrounding the black innards. These panels can pop-off to reveal the inner workings of the console — allowing owners to access the PS5 expandable storage — but also to customize the look of the new Sony flagship gaming console. Apex Legends recently began releasing a new limited-time mode (or LTM) every week or two. Well, Halloween is just around a week or so away, so the devs wanted to make sure you could get your scare on in Kings Canyon After Dark. Fight or Fright is back this year with the Shadow Royale LTM on Kings Canyon After Dark in Apex Legends. This unique mode is only available until November 3, so be sure to dive in and take advantage before time runs out.

Sony has now taken to its PS official blog to drop some new details on Netflix, Spotify, YouTube, and Disney Plus for PlayStation 5. It’s hard to even care about these add-on entertainment services while some of us are still just waiting to even get a PS5, but the gaming console is the center of entertainment in some homes and we now have a much clearer picture of how it will all work on PS5 come day one. Call of Duty’s next installment is a rendition of Black Ops this time around, though the game will be focusing on elements of the Cold War instead of heading into the future. We now know Mortal Kombat 11 players will be receiving free next-generation upgrades on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X. Well, it’s been a long time coming. Players have been asking for cross-play in Apex Legends essentially since it was released, but it’s finally here. Originally announced back in June, Apex Legends is finally getting cross-play on October 6. It looks like a new Kirby game — Kirby Fighters 2 —  is on the way for Nintendo Switch. The sequel appeared briefly on Nintendo’s website without ever being officially announced before the site became inaccessible, and the game was subsequently taken down.
