It’s been a big week for Nintendo, as it first announced that nearly 35 million Switch consoles have been sold, a number which also marked the passing of N64’s lifetime sales. We also learned that sales have been slowing overall as the console has now reached mid-cycle status. If you’re an Amazon Prime member near one of the company’s shipping hubs, it’s likely that you’ve experienced one-day or same-day delivery on some orders. Though not available on all products, a majority of the online retail giant’s offerings are offered with quicker shipping timeframes than the normal two-day delivery. But, in today’s earnings call, the company’s chief financial officer Brian Olsavsky said that Amazon is aiming at replacing Prime two-day delivery with Prime one-day as the default timeframe.

The first quarter of 2019 saw Nintendo sell nearly 2.5 million Switch consoles, bringing its lifetime total to 34.74 million. Overall, that’s a decrease year-over-year from Q1 of 2018, with Nintendo selling nearly half a million fewer consoles in comparison. Nintendo also missed its sales target for the previous fiscal year. That number turned out to be short of its 17 million goal, which was recently revised from earlier prognostication of 20 million.

Nintendo also outpaced the lifetime sales of the beloved N64 over the last quarter. While just a historical benchmark, it does go to show how popular the console has been with gamers. Overall, sales are slowing but hints that Nintendo may be releasing a new version of the Switch in 2019 still have hopes high. More details below.

My first interaction with a portable air conditioner was not a good one. The central air failed at my business and I needed to ensure the climate was acceptable until the problem could be resolved. After first being announced back in January, Key by Amazon is now bringing its in-garage delivery platform to Prime members. The service was originally tested in 37 markets at the beginning of the year and is now available in 50 markets across the United States. Today’s announcement centers around a partnership with Chamberlain and its MyQ smart garage door openers. Smartphone control is a key aspect of this new service, which enables delivery personnel to drop off packages inside your garage whether you are home or not. After first being announced back in January, Puma is now taking its project Fi or Fit Intelligence self-lacing shoes to the next level of production. I have been using security cameras for going on two years now. Initially, I chose the Logitech Circle 2, but after suffering from incessant connectivity issues and lackluster battery life I switched to Blink XT. The change is a night and day difference. Cloud storage is free and load times are lighting fast. I have just one issue and the new Vivint Outdoor Camera Pro takes it seriously.

My beef is with how many notifications I receive. The included toggles for motion alerts can only be managed on a system-wide basis. Adidas has been trumpeting the recycle horn for some time, first announcing its plans to make biodegradable shoes way back in 2016. Since then the brand has slowly been marching towards this week’s announcement of its new Futurecraft Loop shoes. I’ve written many articles elaborating how Alexa has allowed me to make many things in my home smart. More importantly, it’s been very inexpensive to do so. Dimmable light switches are around $20, smart plugs are easily half of that, and $30 paid for a device that let me use Alexa to control infrared devices.

With fifteen Echo Dots in tow, I’ve begun dabbling with devices that let me use Alexa outside of my home. Roav VIVA is my latest endeavor, allowing me to take Amazon’s assistant with me in the car. Thanks to a free software update announced today, I’m likely going to be tempted to use Amazfit Verge as an Alexa smartwatch.
