Sea of Thieves sails on to Steam with PC/Xbox cross-platform play

Sea of Thieves on Steam is ready to go. Microsoft’s swashbuckling action-adventure pirate game is now listed as “coming soon” on Steam and will soon join a growing collection of other Microsoft titles on Valve’s PC-based gaming platform. The move is part of Microsoft’s continued effort to allow gamers to choose where they play PC games and will join previously released titles on Steam including Gears 5 and the Halo: The Master Chief Collection. While a little bit behind schedule, Sony has now unveiled this month’s free PlayStation Plus games. Just hours after Sony launched is Spring PlayStation Sale with over 600 price drops, it has now announced that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Dirt Rally 2.0 on PS4 will be completely free of charge this month. As usual, you’ll need to have an active PlayStation Plus membership to download these games for free, but once you do they will remain part of your game library until your membership lapses. GameStop deems itself “essential retail,” will not close stores amid pandemic

GameStop has decided it will not heed COVID-19-related government recommendations to close retail locations. After health officials across the country have issued orders to have all non-essential physical businesses closed in order to slow the spread of the Coronavirus outbreak, GameStop has instructed its employees to do just the opposite. As more and more public events are effected by the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19), including music festivals and the likely possibility of sporting events, E3 2020 has now been canceled. While it does not appear as though the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) — the body responsible for hosting E3 since 1995 — has yet to make an official announcement, the industry’s biggest event of the year is likely to get has now been canceled. But as an increasing number of publishers have been pulling out of E3 in the last few years — Sony hasn’t even shown up since 2018 — the disappointing news doesn’t mean all is lost.
