The Mario Bros. are breaking records again, and this time it’s not for their appearance in Nintendo’s beloved home console games. Opening weekend is behind us, and the numbers are in – the new Super Mario Bros. Movie just had the biggest opening weekend of the year. Universal and Illumination – the studio responsible for the beloved Minions – teamed up with Nintendo on Mario’s first real animated feature and absolutely crushed it in theaters across the globe. Despite some folks I spoke to walking out of the relatively tight 1 hour and 32-minute runtime being mildly underwhelmed, I, for one, had an absolute blast with the perfectly paper-thin plot, and it looks like plenty of others did as well after the film generated $204.6 million in the US alone. Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Switch console pre-orders will begin soon. Not to take anything away from the particular amazing looking Fuse system and crafting Nintendo highlighted in this morning’s gameplay video, but the new Zelda Tears of the Kingdom OLED Switch was easily one of the highlights of today’s official Nintendo presentation. While the price isn’t exactly anything to write home about, it’s not all that much more than the standard OLED model console (unless you buy it on sale anyway) and comes covered in a gorgeous Tears of the Kingdom-inspired paint job with golden Joy-Con. In my opinion, the Art model is the nicest-looking model in the lineup to have up on your countertop this spring and summer with the retro-style pull handle – having said that the new E-TERRA and E-DUO sparkling water makers are worth a look as well. Amazon is now offering the Hisense 75-inch Class U6H Series Quantum ULED 4K UHD Smart Google TV for $699.99 shipped. This model launched in summer 2022 at $800 shipped and is now $100 off the going rate and matched as part of Best Buy’s Deals of the Day. While we have have seen a couple drops to $698 only once has it been much lower than that at Amazon and that was for a brief one day sale at $50 less. We are also still tracking the 55- and 65-inch models at $368 and $498 shipped. The 2022 Hisense U6H Series delivers a unibody, bezel-less design with mid-tier specs at notable prices including Variable Refresh Rate tech, four HDMI 2.1 inputs, and Google Assistant/Alexa voice command action. The official Mario Day Switch console bundle was announced last week and is scheduled to go live today. This year’s hardware bundle is officially known as the Nintendo Switch Mario Choose One Bundle and will go live at various retailers today for $300 shipped. The new Mario movie trailer is set to debut any minute now as part of the latest Nintendo Direct. Now, on the eve of Mario Day 2023, Nintendo is set to broadcast a special Direct presentation focused entirely on the Mario movie and what appears to be the final official trailer before it hits theaters next month. We caught our first glimpse of the highly-anticipated film back on October of last year, followed be a slew of shorter clips and trailers thereafter, and that all culminates in today’s presentation set to go live at 5 p.m. ET today. Mario Day game deals are scheduled to start going live today! While MAR10 proper won’t start until later this week on Friday, physical game deals in celebration of the mustached hero should be kicking off today. Last week, Nintendo unleashed an official press release for the 2023 Mario Day festivities, detailing loads of price drops, a Nintendo Switch Mario Choose One console bundle, an eShop sale, and a series of activities running all month long. While the console bundle isn’t scheduled to go live until later this week, we should be seeing some big-time physical Switch game deals hit today (if they aren’t already) and quite possibly the Mario Kart Live Home Circuit kits.
