Today we are taking a look at the new Backbone One PlayStation Edition. The original Backbone One is widely considered to be one of, if not, the best mobile gaming controller for iPhone, but the company has now teamed up with Sony to unveil what is essentially the first official iPhone controller for PlayStation. New details of GTA 6 have seemingly emerged, including the game’s setting, playable characters, and overall change of tone. Grand Theft Auto 5 released ages ago (back in 2013) and, much like previous games in the series, has remained relevant ever since. That’s largely due to the ever-expanding GTA Online that remained one of the top 20 best selling games right up until 2020, but Rockstar has seemingly begun to move its development focus from its persistent Grand Theft Auto world over to new projects, the biggest of which is likely GTA 6. After being announced back in May, the 2D crossover brawler from Warner Bros. Games’ MultiVersus is now in open beta ahead of it’s release. Similar to Super Smash Bros., MultiVersus brings characters from multiple universes into one game to fight it out. With the launch of the open beta comes the announcement of Lebron James joining the roster and Rick and Morty joining in the near-future.

Sony is ramping up for the launch of its latest-generation PS VR2 platform and has now taken to its official PlayStation Blog with some new details. After catching our first glimpse of the PlayStation VR2 headset back in February, Sony is now detailing some of the interesting user experience features with some new details on see-through mode, live-stream broadcasting options, custom play areas, and more. Originally earmarked for a release this summer and now set to launch in September, Splatoon 3 pre-orders are now live with some fun bonuses attached. After getting our first look at the co-op mode back during the massive February Nintendo Direct presentation, Nintendo launched a fresh new gameplay trailer alongside the updated September release date in late April. Not only is the brilliant Shredder’s Revenge now out in the wild – a sort of new retro-modern take on the classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles beat ’em ups of the 90s – but Nickelodeon’s epic Cowabunga Collection is now quickly approaching. We caught a glimpse of the classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Cowabunga Collection back in March during the PlayStation State of Play, but we now know exactly when you’ll be able to play TMNT on Switch (and just about every other platform out there) in all its retro glory. The massive PlayStation Summer Sale is now live! While we did see a sizable digital event go live ahead of the big June gaming showcases, the proper PSN PlayStation Summer Sale is now in full swing. As per usual, this annual event delivers a gigantic collection of top-tier digital PS4 and PlayStation 5 games, both new and old, to build up your digital game library at a major discount. Just after launching the new overhauled PlayStation Plus program, Sony is readying something called PlayStation Stars. The new loyalty program of sorts gives gamers a chance at scoring some free digital collectibles, PSN wallet funds (basically free money to spend on the digital PlayStation Store for games and DLC), and “select PlayStation Store products.” Head below for more details on the upcoming, free-to-join PlayStation Stars program. 

I’m sure there are flaws to Shredder’s Revenge (the new retro-styled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles beat-‘em-up from Tribute and Dotemu). But I was having too much fun playing the game to think of any.

The wait has finally come to an end as Sony and developer Santa Monica studios have taken to the official PlayStation blog to unveil the God of War Ragnarök release date. The highly-anticipated sequel, once believed to see delays into 2023, will indeed be launching ahead of the holidays this year in November. Set for release on PlayStation 4 and PS5, the sequel to 2018’s epic reboot of the series is set to once again star Kratos and son Atreus as exemplified in today’s new Father and Son CG Trailer. Alongside the release date and new footage, Sony has dished up a series of new images, details on pre-order bonuses, and all the different editions of God of War Ragnarök. Started back in 1972, Atari has now announced a brand new collection of some of the best retro games it has been responsible for over the years soon to be landing on your current-generation hardware known as Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration. 

Today, PowerA is unleashing its new mobile game controller known as the MOGA XP7-X Plus. Joining the MOGA XP5-X Plus Bluetooth Controller, the brand’s XP5-A model, and the MOGA Mobile Gaming Clip 2.0 for Xbox Controllers, the new MOGA XP7-X Plus features a wraparound design that looks to take on the likes of Razer’s previous generation Kishi variant and the latest Android model that just launched at the beginning of the month. Persona for Switch has now been confirmed. Nintendo hosted a new Direct Mini Partner Showcase today to detail some of the notable third-party titles hitting its hybrid home and portable gaming platform today. There were some expected announcements alongside what is arguably the most exciting of the bunch – the new Persona Switch ports. Alongside details on release dates for the upcoming Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope sequel, Nier: Automata The End of YoRHa Edition, and a few others, we now know the Persona for Switch rumors have finally come true as three of the biggest games in the series are set to land on Nintendo’s platform later this year. The latest Final Fantasy VII news is on the way. On the heels of the big Xbox and Bethesda showcase as well as the lengthy Summer Game Fest main event, Square Enix has scheduled a special Final Fantasy presentation for this evening. While it’s rumored that Sony will potentially have another event at the end of the month, tonight’s Square Enix showcase essentially caps off the summer reveal season. It appears as though it will be a “short and sweet” broadcast centered around the Final Fantasy VII 25th anniversary, but that could mean a number of things, including part 2 of Final Fantasy VII remake. With Amazon’s massive discount event now officially confirmed for mid-July, we will also be getting a slew of FREE games for Prime Day 2022 as well. A PlayStation 5 pro controller might be in the works. What could be the PlayStation 5 DualSense Pro controller is apparently on the verge of being officially revealed, according to an industry insider with more than one source close to the matter. Sony never really attempted its own pro-grade, first-party gamepad for its previous-generation console the way Microsoft did with its Elite Series 2, but if these rumors ring true, we might very well be seeing a new PlayStation 5 pro controller before the month is out. In place of E3 this year, Microsoft today is holding its massive Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase. While we await the rumored Game Boy library, Nintendo added some new titles to the Switch Online game list. This time around it is the base-tier Super Nintendo library that is seeing some new games in the form of three special edition versions of some classic SNES Kirby titles. The latest in the Kirby series, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, hit the Switch library back in March to positive critical reviews just before Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards landed on the N64 Switch Online game list, but subscribers of Nintendo’s online service can now enjoy SP versions of Kirby Super Star, Kirby’s Dream Land 3, and Kirby’s Dream Course. A new SEGA mini console has just been unveiled known as the Mega Drive 2. After seeing the latest coming to PlayStation back in March before the dedicated Harry Potter RPG event, Sony’s June State of Play showcase is set to kick off right now. Algoriddim is unveiling a major update today to introduce the “world’s first AI based Digital Vinyl System (DVS) for mobile devices” alongside a physical patent-pending Neural Mix Vinyl to support it. The next-generation update for Algoriddim’s djay app is looking to make iPhone and iPad the “brains of the DJ booth.” It delivers full control over its DJ software on iOS devices using special time code vinyl with a pair of turntables negating the need to use laptops, MacBooks, and portable drives in the booth – essentially the ability to mix and scratch digital music files on proper analog turntables via iOS. Set for release next month, Nintendo has announced a sort of free trial sessions for players to hit the pitch ahead of time in Mario Strikers Battle League. Centered around a powered-up version of soccer Nintendo has dubbed Strike, Mario Strikers Battle League is the next big sports launch for the Mushroom Kingdom featuring just about all of your favorite Marioverse characters (Luigi, Bowser, Peach, Donkey Kong, Rosalina, Wario, Toad, and more), Nintendo Switch Online members can actually run through the tutorial starting today ahead of the Just 3, 2022 free demo kick-off event. According to a recent Sony presentation for investors, we now have a better idea of what the PlayStation VR2 game lineup will look like at launch. While direct details have not been divulged by Sony to the public just yet, there will be a fairly significant number of titles ready for the next-generation of Sony’s virtual reality headset if the investor presentation is indeed accurate. Alongside the Call of the Mountain Horizon game from we already knew about, it now appears as though there will be “20+” PlayStation VR2 games ready to go when the new headset launches. MultiVersus is not something I expected to write about in 2022…or ever. We already have Super Smash Bros., but that’s really just a mash-up of Nintendo universes, while MultiVersus is… different? You’ll find iconic characters from quite a few universes here, including Tom and Jerry, Steven Universe, Batman, Superman, and even The Iron Giant in this unique 2v2 mash-up. Can WB pull off MultiVersus? As a free-to-play game with built-in crossplay, co-op support, and more, they might have a hit on their hands, even if I do think it’s the weirdest lineup of characters in gaming right now.

Get ready for more bean-based shenanigans as multiplayer party game Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is preparing to go FREE and hit new platforms. Fans of the game have been waiting for the hit to new platforms, and today, developer Mediatonic announced it would be getting the free-to-play treatment come next month, alongside its debut on Nintendo Switch, Xbox consoles, and the Epic Games Store for PC gamers. Sony has now unveiled the new PlayStation Plus games lineup. Microsoft has now unveiled its plans for what is looking to be a massive summer Xbox games showcase. After acquiring Bethesda and its beloved development studios alongside being in the process of inking a deal to absorb the Blizzard Activision package, Microsoft’s summer Xbox games showcase is likely to be quite an exciting one. Disney and Pixar games are teaming up with the folks at Gameloft for what sounds like a sort of Animal Crossing-style game set in the universe of the Magic Kingdom called Disney Dreamlight Valley. Sony is unleashing some new details on Variable Refresh Rate PS5 support today, and we have the latest update on the upcoming PlayStation Plus overhaul. Back at the tail end of March, Sony finally rolled out “Hey PlayStation” voice commands for PS5 owners in the U.S. and U.K., just before detailing a future update to its latest console with support for Variable Refresh Rate on HDMI 2.1-compatible TVs and PC monitors.
